I approached a regular seller today and he is not going to do the winter markets this year. Offered me a box of sockts for a fiver. IMG_20190921_140330 by quickrack, on Flickr IMG_20190921_140324 by quickrack, on Flickr Nice mix of smaller impact sizes in long series that I didnt have. And a few odd n ends. More than well worth the money.

Went to a charity shop today, bought a couple of CD's, fatboyslim on Brighton Beach and a D+B mix, and I also spotted a skeleton clock Which reminded me of the old CAV gauge dad had in his car, thus Cost me £1, was only the clock, missing its case. Got home, was looking for something else when I found this Not as good as it looks in the photo, a little wooden pot, doing nothing that I bought for 50p (price still on it) from a charity shop aaaaaaages ago. Hmmmmmmmmm.......... will it fit. Bingo. £1.50, it even came with a Sony battery.

They do don't they. The base of the pot was loose so that came off easily, then I took the knob off the lid and used it as the base. Its a perfect fit, I didnt have to do a thing to it. I might even put a backlight in it, seems right too. Ive found out its one of these £85

That Camping Gaz cooker, my parents had that and I used it when I was in the scouts (many years ago). Still got one of the cookers I think but maybe not the box. It's quite neat as it acts as a stand and a wind break.

Nearly bought a petrol chain saw at an autojumble on Sunday. It was spares or repairs for £10. Decided not to go for it, as I'd probably try pruning the tree in the garden, and turn it into a stump!

This morning I decided to give the car boot sale a miss, and try a couple of charity shops instead. Glad I did as I found a bag of spanners and sockets. Snap on, britool, Elora, halfords, Gordon, tipco, gedore, and other decent makes. All for £10 the lot!

Was at a auto jumble last week, picked up a no.84 Record vice for £35 and a J.W.Pickavant coolant system pressure tester that was spares or repairs for £20. Quick rebuild and it works perfect, love old tools.

Not a fins as I knew it was there, but thought I'd drag it out. It's a pen from the launch of the Sierra. My grandad had two, one of which he gave to me for my exams. Alas mine is a bit chewed, though survives, but his survives in fine fettle. Grandad worked at Ford, he even once had a xr4x4 'on test' prior to its official release (lent by a boss at Dagenham whilst he was on hols, obviously lol).

Was out and about doing some shopping yesterday, got stuck in traffic on the way home and realised I was stuck outside a second hand furniture shop that id never been in, so I went in. Most of it was uninteresting modern tat, but I remembered Drews words 'Always go right to the back'. The further to the back of the shop I got, the higher the piles of stuff got, but I spotted one thing I really wanted, and it was probably the cheapest thing in there. £10. Seemed like a good idea to tell the cat to get stuffed. It looked worse than it does in the pics, the wood was really tired and the glass was covered in sticky residue and muck, but it was solid and undamaged. Its hard to tell how old it is, but its all solid wood, my uneducated estimate is pre 40s, either way its a really nicely made thing. I had a floor standing one given to me a while back, but it had a mirror in the back of it, was made mostly of ply, and was stupidly heavy, it also had a curved front so didn't have much space inside it considering how much space it took up. This one on the other hand was exactly what I was looking for. I spent the afternoon going over it with wire wool, then waxed it, and cleaned the crud off the glass with thinners, then white vinegar, and its almost immaculate now. It fitted perfectly on top of a set of draws ive had for a while, the draws need a bit of paint but that can wait till the weather improves, then ill make them match properly. For £10 and an easy afternoons work I'm well happy. Now to fill it up with more tat.

For a heartbeat there I thought the cat was stuffed!! Nice wee display case. Don't worry so did I. I worked in an office once where one of the admins had a 'fake' cat on her desk, it was so realistic that it was wierd. (At least I hope it was a fake one and not a stuffed former pet).

While I was working on it I left a door open, she got in and had a sniff, so I shut the door, and she froze, so I took the pic. It just so happened to be a perfect pose for a stuffed cat lol
