EQUIPMENT
Chrome radiator grille, wrap-round chrome bumper, growler radiator badge, grained vinyl roof, burst proof door locks, power assisted steering, hand matched walnut facia, rear on/off and directional ventilation controls, individual front ashtrays, cigar lighter, push-push switches, map reading lamp, six gauge instrument cluster, front and rear electric windows, lockable glove box with vanity mirror, tinted glass. Optional extras: Remote control door mirror, stainless steel Jaguar sill plates.
EXTERIOR
This sleek Jaguar is finished in a bespoke colour of Platinum Grey Metallic and looks absolutely gorgeous. The fine lines of the pillarless coupe are striking and the richness of colour make this thoroughbred impossible to miss with admiring looks on every outing. The wrap-round chromium plated bumpers and imposing front grille have a mirror finish and all the glass is mark free. A few tiny markings around the growler radiator badge can be seen and the front and rear chrome window inserts have minor aging. The black grained vinyl roof is immaculate and contrasts wonderfully against the glossy metallic paint. The engine bay will not fail to impress with spotless detailing allowing bonnet up exhibiting. An individual, imposing and sophisticated example of Jaguar magic.
INTERIOR
A sumptuous, luxurious and immensely comfortable crushed Red velour interior is complemented by a hand matched walnut facia and is simply exquisite. All occupants can relax in the wide contoured seats and the deep pile red carpets laid over special sound absorbing materials offer a spacious, quiet and renewed pleasure in driving. The felt grey headlining is perfect and all six gauges operate faultlessly as does the Philips radio/cassette as fitted when new and quartz clock. Minor markings to the automatic selector panel can be seen along with small section of lacquer lift to the glove box right edge. A real automotive indulgence.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The superlative in-line six cylinder well proven XK 4.2 litre engine produces 245bhp and offers effortless reserves of performance. A manual choke conversion has been installed. The Borg-Warner 3-speed automatic model 65 transmission is beautifully matched to the XK engine giving the perfect driving combination.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The Dunlop silver painted 15inch steel wheels have unmarked chrome Jaguar hub-caps with growler badges and are standard fitments finishing the striking exterior impact of the vehicle. Avon Turbospeed tyres have ample tread and are correctly sized at 205/70 R15. Servo-assisted disc brakes all-round with ventilated discs at the front and separate hydraulic circuits offer excellent stopping power for a weighty car. Umbrella handbrake system holds the car.
HISTORY FILE
With only 6,487 Jaguar XJC 4.2 examples being produced, (source Wikipedia), this is a very rare Jaguar. Plagued with production problems and poor build quality affecting the few made, survivors are a wonderful sight today. This prime example belongs to Mr Michael John Dearing of Classic Vehicle Restoration Specialist in Lincolnshire and was fully restored by him for personal pleasure. Now quoting three years before customers cars can be accepted for work, the reality of using his pride and joy and limited space, have resulted in a very lucky new owner being sought.
MOT March 2016, HPI Clear and an Approved Used Car Check Certificate.
