I`ve got a couple of Land Rovers of my own to paint in the next few weeks, but I`ve not got a spray booth yet. Has anyone has any experience painting in a temporary/home made one?
The unit is concreted throughout, but not that well sealed from the outside, so on a windy day, dust would be a bit of an issue. Added to the fact that the unit is on top of a hill in the Peak District, we get quite a few windy days here!
A guy has quoted me nearly £3000 to build one, and this isn`t including any extraction or heating. Personally, I thought this was VERY expensive, especially when weighed up against a second hand booth you can buy with oven bake facility and extraction fans for around £2000. In the meantime, I need somewhere to paint. I was looking at buying a big car port/gazebo type structure to put up to use. They`re big enough (4m x 6m), and although it`ll be a bit of bodge job, it should help with regards to dust etc, which is my biggest concern.
So, can anyone comment on this, or has anyone used a similar set up at all? Did you find it OK to use, or any other ideas of what I can use as a temporary measure?
Any help appreciated. Cheers.

I use a cheap gazebo to paint outside so you should be good in a unit.

Most pain suppliers sell the thin poly . Just sheet out the whole of the inside it's not difficult. Remember to let filtered air in one end an use a fan to blow out the other . . Then you just need good lights . . 5 foot twins
2k goes off quick no need for a oven .

And seal the floor with watered down pva a few times. Or damp the floor down to hold dust when you do start painting, personally I don't like to wet the floor before I've got bare metal and primer covered up, just seems like a way of promoting rust, probably doesn't just feels wrong

Yeah, I`m happy to do a thread....hadn`t even thought of that!
The airflow and lights won`t be an issue, however the dust is. The unit has quite a few gaps, so I`ll need something semi sealed like a gazebo. I use 1k paint, and 2k lacquer as I seem to get the best results this way. I`ll be sealing the floor too, once the concrete is down later this week!

hang four lengths of 2x4 or similar on ropes from the roof or beam or such in a square , then staple plastic to it hanging down to the floor and anchor with timber an bricks/blocks, staple a celling to prevent destroying the place in overspray, I'd recommend heat as it helps prevent issues with moisture, at least room temp. fan will help you to see and take away over spray while painting, and sweep the nuts outa the floor then wet sweep it just before you mix paint, I've painted friends cars in allsorts of places years back when I had nowhere to paint, haysheds, garage at the parents gaf, an oul barn, oily shed at me uncles, even done a 1/4 an bumper on a gold skoda superb rentle in the cutting room of me buddys family furniture factory, owner never noticed till we pointed out I removed a dent he put in it previous, once there's no giraffe's getting in and you don't go spraying a dusty area to raise it, its possible to get it relativity dust-free always expect some on flat horizontal area's roof/bonnet/wings etc, with lights the more the merrier as the overspray can block out 50% of it

If you buy a gazebo, you can cut a couple of inches off the vertical poles, and you'll have enough skirt on the floor to put bricks on.

Not got anywhere at ask with this yet, apart from concreting the floor! I'm just painting in the unit as it stands right now, but have something in the pipeline!
I'll pay pictures as soon as is done.
