For sale my 1993 Classic Saab 900 T16 SE 3 Door Hatchback.
This is one of the last classics finished in beautiful Eucalyptus Green with Grey velour interior. This is a rare colour on this car.
5 speed manual Turbo this is an LPT model but has been uprated with a FPT intercooler. It feels like its putting out more than the standard 145bhp but I have no proof of this, the car goes very well. I have fitted lots of new parts to the car and have many receipts. I also have an original saab 900 owners manual and leather wallet which also includes dealer information, and a Haynes manual.
I would trust the car to drive anywhere and have driven it to Newcastle and back and also Birmingham with no problems at all.
Good gearbox, doesn't jump out of gear, grind or make any strange noises. The clutch and slave cylinder were changed just before I bought the car.
Good strong 2.0 turbo engine, smooth constant power delivery with a healthy turbo. Starts first time and idles on the dot with no smoke or rattles. Recently serviced with receipts to prove including plugs, rotor cap and arm, air filter and oil change. A new starter motor has been fitted as the old one died in the cold weather. At the same time I fitted a brand new battery. I have also fitted a new exhaust system including a Steve Lewis rear stainless twin exit pipe which gives a nice burble on idle and looks great. The car has done 189k but honestly you wouldn’t tell as it drives very well. These Saabs are noted for the reliability and high mileage capability. I know people with these that have done 250k on the original engines and are still going strong.
This example has a very clean body for its age, good panels all round with no rot evident. Being over 20 years old the car does have marks around it, most of which I have touched up, it still looks very smart though. Its had 2 patches to the sills but they are good quality repairs and have been treated properly. The drive shaft tunnels aren’t rotton, neither is the boot floor. Standard rubber rear spoiler fitted in good condition. Included in my asking price is a replica whale tale spoiler finished in black.
All the badges on the car are in good condition and I do have ‘900’ and ‘Turbo’ badges for the rear. You are welcome to come and look over the car.
The car was on standard alloys when I got it so I bought a very clean set of deep dish 9000 Aero alloys with good branded tires (Continental/Yokohama) and fitted them, along with clear front and side indicators, this really gives the car a lot more aggressive and modern look. I’ve had the front anti roll bar rubbers replaced, as well as front track rod ends. There is a knock coming from the front passenger side when you go over bumps. I’ve had this inspected at length and there are no obvious faults although one of the ball joints is suspected. I’m including 2 new ball joints in the sale. The car drives fine and tracks correctly. (Tracking also done at the same time) MOT until the start of October. These cars handle very well and this one is no exception.
I fitted a good condition cloth/velour interior when I got the car as the original was tatty (available with the car) this is the auto heated seat version. Good uncracked dashboard with all buttons in the correct place, fully working heated electric adjust mirrors, clean carpets that are unripped. I also fitted a new centre console as the old one was cracked at the rear. A good second hand ignition barrel has also been fitted as the old one was very stiff and the key would get stuck. I also had fitted at great expense a good second hand head lining as the previous owner to me had totally ripped the old one out (including the board!) as well as giving everything a good clean. There is a leather 3 spoke steering wheel fitted and a brand new genuine Saab leather gearknob. No stereo with the car but the wiring and speakers are there. The car also has fully working remote central locking.
Being an SE is comes with electric power windows and electric sunroof, all working. The car is fitted with air con but this is currently not gassed up.
Apart from the front knock the only other fault I can think of is the rocker gasket could do with replacing as it is weeping some oil onto the manifold, and the engine bay could do with detailing to make it look nicer. A couple of the plastic wheel arch trims are cracked.
I have spent more than my asking price on this car in the last 4 months getting it up to scratch.
I love this car very much but I have 5 cars and nowhere to keep them all so I’ve had to sell the ones that are good in order to help finish off my other cars. These Saabs are great cars and their values are steadily climbing. This one gets a lot of comments dues to its rare colour which looks fantastic in the sun!
