Hi,
It's time to tear into the engine on my latest project... I already know the block (a modern small-block V8 of American heritage) needs some desperate work & will require the full works (re-bore & hone, decks re-machining, line-hone, as well as the full rotating assembly balance).
Can anyone recommend a top-class engine re-machining firm in the north of England, preferably, who routinely work with customers of classic & race-car engine builds.
Kind regards

Thanks,
are either of these companies recommended by your own experience or professionally dealing with them? There seem to be no shortage of businesses operating in the north offering the services I need, but, I'd prefer to go to one who has a solid reputation amongst the users of this forum.
Regards.

Bradford grinders are curse word.
Best bet is to phone EDA in Castleford 01977 516622 up and they should be able to arrange for machining work. EDA are the best (and cheapest) for balancing and any finishing work but they're usually so busy they get the standard machining done elsewhere. They are well renowned race engine builders. IIRC they use the companies below.
W Drakes always did excellent work for me for machining. 01274 733541
Or Blands in Barnsley 01226 284951 are excellent for machining too.

After a quick google I would suggest EDA over my other 2, I've always known it as Kenny Colemans not EDA, Kenny builds good horsepower race engines and has a good reputation.

Bryan,
I have contacted Kenny, nice man, unfortunately he cannot perform machine work on an LS V8 block. He has, therefore, put me in touch with Dave Powell at Performance Unlimited (York).. I await his reply.
Despite this, I will be entrusting Kenny with my balancing work.
