Finally got some kind of mojo back to get my Mk4 Cortina roadworthy again (must be the sunshine!)
Anyway it's been mothballed for about 3 years turns over fine but needs to be re-fired and carbs setting up. Its a bored out 2.1 with agressive cam twin 45 webbers etc.. as I didnt build it I'm not sure what oils been used etc so asking advice on what people recommend and run theirs on?
i'll be doing a mini service before it's fired up usual plugs, filters etc, but it does also need a full set of exhaust rubbers fitting as the others are shot and exhaust is hanging down anyone know if any other model exhaust rubbers fit on or the best place to obtain a set of Mk4 Cortina rubbers?
And lastley if anyone is a dab hand with setting up twin 45 webbers can you give me some advice?
Thanks all
Mike

20/40 is best they don't really like thinner stuff IME, they are prettyt tough old sods, i've started many from years of storage, they tend to smoke for a while till the rust clears off the bores. Any even half decent spares shop will stock the zorst rubbers

I have never run anything other than 10w40 in my pintos, they have always been healthy with no smoke etc, i have never experienced the legendary cam wear due to the spray bar, if the engine is good there isn't really a need to bung 20w50 in it

Pintos are tough old sods, alright, but the top-end lubrication is what's important on these. If it's being lying a while, it might be a good preventative measure to lube the cam lobes before firing her up. Take the cam cover off, which should be easy with twin-side draughts, and give the lobes a drizzle.

Cheers for all the advice guys, Its a fairly newly rebult lump so should be ok on the 10w 40 oil i'd have thought and I'll give the cam a lube up before firing her up.
Maneged to get the rubbers from a cracking little local independant parts place aswell for peanuts
Thanks All

I am good friends with the Harris family, famous for Pinto engine building. It may be something and nothing but they refuse to offer any warranty with a Pinto that runs on anything except Valvoline VR Racing 20/50W - Same with HT & Connaught I am told - Must be for a reason?
