I thought I better introduce me and my Honda Acty Pickup. Been lurking in the back ground for a long time now. Recently bought a little pickup to cart things around in and will also be a ongoing project. In the future I will give it a engine conversion, but until then its going to be the standard lowered with wider wheels. The best bit, brown interior I parked it next to one of the cleaning machines at work to get a perspective of how small it is. Ben

Moved the truck into the unit I rent and had a good exploration. The washer bottle is under the passenger seat. The brake reservoir is behind a little panel on the side of the dash. Can check the brake fluid while stopped at he lights by opening the drivers door. I spent a long time looking for the oil dip stick. Found it behind the passenger rear wheel, took a photo to give the idea of how small it is. And the 550cc beast rumbling away under the bed. Ben

Thanks for the positive comments. It is indeed in good condition. Apart from the scratches in the bed area, there is no rust on it. I plan to give it a quick respray to freshen up the 27 year old paint and remove the little dinks around the bodywork.

Ok I think its about time I posted a update for the pickup. I have had the standared wheels widened by 2.5 inchs going from 12x3.5 to 12x6 wheels. Had the wheels powder coated in a metallic silver, looks really nice when the sun shines on them. Custom made stainless brake lines. I had to go to GAZ shocks to get some custom made front struts made. They turned out nice but needed to modify the top mount to get them to fit. Also ordered some softer springs as the 250lb springs are way to stiff for a 670kg car. The rear shocks are mini shorted shocks which fit nicely. The drivers seat has been repaired and some new foam added where it was worn out. Gave the interior a scrub, before after I was planning to get the truck ready for this weekend, it would have been drivable. But the rear leaf springs which were sent off to be decambered and eye's reversed arrived earlier this week without being decambered! So I'm sitting in my house waiting for dhl to arrive to pick them up. So it looks like next week it will be back on the road. Ben

You are taking this exactly to the place I'd take one. Banded steels / custom coilovers. I'll keep an eye out for when you come to sell it in a couple of years.

Loving this. Nice work with the suspension so far, would love to do something similar with our MK1 but we don't want to spend the money considering we plan on selling it after the summer. What are you doing with the rear leaves?

Superb, i saw one of these, well, it was the Diahatsu version with a 1100 Kawasaki engine years ago, it went like stink, and looked pretty damn cool too! I thought it was the maddest thing ever, then i saw a Bedford Rascal van with a 2.9 litre Ford V6 in the back, as i remember, that went quite well too!! Keep up the updates!

I work for a Honda dealership, we have a 1988 Acty pickup. Just had tons of welding done on it, its currently at the bodyshop being painted. I will try to put up some pictures when done. I love them, they drive great, go well, stop well even when (over)loaded.

Those wheels look good in silver. Like OE+
She's gonna sit nice on them and the new suspension.

My leaf springs arrived. Removed the old bushes and fitted them as best I could to the new ones. See the difference in the camber. The top leaf has been completely remade with the eye moved below the spring and the camber reduced by 2 inches. So total drop should be 2.5 inch on the rear. Ben

I have replaced the springs and fitted the braided brake lines. I like how it sits But I will have to address the wheels poking out. I bought a set of land rover arches which are about the side of the pickup. I couldn't help myself and bought this... Ben

I'd have just you'd just about get away with that poke, rather than spoil the bodywork bolting on some plastic arches? Work is looking great so far.
