I bought this Vogue in March 2014 really to scratch an itch. I'm not a fan of SUV's in general but i've always been a big fan of the original & iconic Spen King design. With prices shooting up, i thought i'd better do it sooner rather than later. Its a 91 plate Vogue in rare Eastnor green which is why I bought this particular one. Most RR's of this period came in various dull metallic shades with lacquer that didn't hold up very well. If you know Land Rover history then Eastnor Castle has played an intrinsic part in LR 4x4 development and still has a major off road programme there. Eastnor Green is also very similar to the original early 1970's RR shade of Lincoln green or the preproduction olive green.
This one is the vogue spec with the 3.9L injected V8 producing around 190bhp. 4 speed ZF auto box , permanent 4x4 with high/low range. 121k miles on the clock. The interior is the teddy bear biscuit trim which is in really good condition -the drivers seat is hardly worn, backing up the miles. Runs fines, no smoke etc and gearbox work fine. Temp guages registers just under halfways and stays there. Changes into top at 55 mph, chassis is good but body has had welding to the usual areas. Aircon does work surprisingly. The downside is the car has no prior service history but i bought it on itsa condition and all the signs indicated it had been looked after - recent backbox, decent brakes, paint works was even and consistent, alloys refurbed at some point, excellent drivers seat and overall interior (new rooflining) etc.
Its a coventry vehicle apparently but spent IIRC most of its time in Norfolk. In the last 12 months i've done about 2000 miles, mostly the wife pootling around warwick or me doing a decent run up to birmingham. Since acquiriung it, i've fitted the rostyle wheels with decent tyres - new Roadian fronts and decent tread michelins on the back. I've fitted a new thermostat and coolant flush plus cleaning out the IACV and fitting new breather pipework between the rocker and plenum. its due an oil change which i'll do prior to sale. Autobox fluid is nice and clean.
The front bumper end caps and plastic spoiler were all cracked so have removed those and converted the front bumper to early spec. I also have new front fog lights which i need to fit. Plan was to do the rear bumper too but haven't had time to do that.
There has a wired-in towbar fitted and the self levelling rear suspension set-up (so i've been told) so great for towing!
Paint is all original - polishes up good but doesn't hold up well - fairly normal for a 24yo car TBH. Panels are all pretty straight but some parking dings here and there. Bonnet leading edge has had a blow over at some point so its probably got a bit of rot in it. slight crease in the OSR quater p[anel but i'll include a good replacement in eastnor green so its a straight swap.
Included is the original vogue alloys (had been refurbed a few years back) and a better OSR quarter panel (also in eastnor green) as the one fitted has a minor crease in it. If i get the asking price, i'll chuck in a complete RRC lpg kit/tank and a few other bits and bobs.
i have acquired an early upright metal grill and headlamp covers for the full backdate look and also got a better upper tailgate.
Mot until 24th march 2016. MPG is about 20 if you need to know ;-)
More pics when i'm back from holiday.
Regards
Matt
