Ford Granada mk3 2.0i
1994
184k (yes, really!)
MOT November 2015
I bought this back in November after a disastrous modern (xc90)! as a stopgap/possible doer-upper. I've done about 2000 miles since I've had it - very comfortable and loads of room in the back (limo like legroom!) and decent sized boot. Actually goes pretty well - you can get he back out without much effort ;-). The guy I bought it off an old guy who had had it for 16 years and was sad to see it go.
Since I've had it I've:
Sorted speedo
Replaced the lower wishbones, inner and outer bushes
Anti roll bar bushes (poly)
Replaced starter motor
Wishbones/bushes were to try and sort the wandering. It's better but still not right, so maybe needs track rod ends?
Being 20 years old it does have some issues:
Rear arches are rusty
Lacquer peel on drivers door/rear bumper
Cruise control/obc don't work
Judders sometimes in 1st (assume gearbox mount needs replacing)
Main prob that I haven't been able to sort is that 1/2 time you drive it, it will cut out. When u go to re-start it will spin but not fire (kinda like it immobilised). If you wiggle the thinner brown cable from the negative terminal (negative direct to the ecu from what I've seen from tracing it) it will let you restart and off you go! I've tried replacing the terminal on the end, cleaning the contacts up, different battery but no difference. Got to the point now where I just don't have the time/patience to keep trying to sort it.
That being said,
Wheels are in good nick (no curbing)
Interior is in good condition
Original ford radio (depends on who you are if that is a plus or not)
Pretty much every old MOT is presenting
Brakes do their job ok
Exhaust seems solid
Always seems to get positive remarks from people - "I used to have one","you don't see many around anymore",etc...
Asking £350 for it. Less than that and there's not much point selling and ill nick the gearbox and few of he other bits and scrap the rest.
I'm in letchworth J9 (A1M).
