Gentlemen, Anyone interested in buying this fine steed off me ? I'm only selling as I'm at bursting point, and once my V70 is back from being repaired, means it will have to sit on the road, and I don't want it getting damaged. I'll be fitting new track rod ends on Friday, and will try flush the gearbox whilst I'm there. Gearbox fluid is a good colour and smell, but I'm just being fussy. It's already had new discs, calipers, pads and tyres on the rear, along with a service that includes Air filter, plugs and oil filter, and three new V belts. Everything works that should including: Electric heated seats Electric mirrors Sunroof Radio Trip / Odometer 'Bad' points: Headlining sagging Fuel gauge stuck at full Play in track rod ends, but should be fixed before sale MOT till October or December. No TAX as well all know why by now. Price- £450 Location - Wirral / Cheshire

740/940 were 4cyl and the 760/960 were 6 cyl (inline not a V) I think
Volvos used to use the numbering for engine size
850 has 5 cyl engines not sure if that carried over to the V70

Sorry i should have said ! It's a 2.8 V6 which is attached to an Automatic Asin Warner gearbox, this has overdrive and when at 70 is ticking over at about 3000rpm, which makes you sit back in the arm chair like seat, and just soak up mile after mile. Wish i had more room, as i would keep it - Anyone with a massive barn in the North West ?

I still to this day miss my 760. EASILY in the top 2 best cars ive ever owned. the interior was beautiful. best of luck with the sale. -Matt

Pretty sure this is Volvos own variant of the PRV V6, either way it bloody purrs along well. Sadly its much quieter and comfier than my normal daily, i say sadly as i just can't keep it, due to work i have to keep the newer car and have no safe place to keep this.

The v6 they used in the 760/960 was the prv v6 which was also used the the dmc Deloren..
They also used the redblock turbo engine, but we're the early one with the 9 mm rods, but they did come with the rare 531 heads.

An saggy headlining : Needless to say my parents (and neighbours) are making some noises about my cars. Be greatful if only genuinely interested people get in touch, not a fan of dealing with time wasters etc.
