Yes there are dust covers , I think you are right , itβs the only thing that can pull the pistonns back !! When I built them I lubed them with brake fluid , what would you suggest as a alternative ? Thanks .

Did you fit new seals only, or pistons as well? What source?
Won't be the dust covers. Assembly with brake fluid should be fine, though most rebuild kits come with either red rubber grease or silicone grease for assembly.
We had a persistent issue just like this with some new (repro) Girling 16PB calipers. Pretty sure that was because the profile of the groove the seal sits in was wrong (certainly different to OE ones) - which won't be your problem - but what was interesting was how different seal kits changed their behavior. The ones they came with were quite soft - gave a very long pedal. OE Girling ones were dimensionally the same, but slightly harder compound. Hard pedal, brakes stayed on (& pistons very hard to get out again),whereas some pre-used and slightly compressed Girling OE ones nearly worked, but still tended to a slightly long pedal. Lube didn't seem to make alot of difference.
We could get them working for a while by removing the pads, pumping the pistons out a little then easing them back until the pads could just be worked in there. That would work for a few hundred miles until the pads wore down - they just would not self-adjust at the right point.
It was suggested that we pump the brakes on hard and wedge the pedal to hold it there overnight. Didn't work for us, but might be worth a try?

I re used the old pistons , they looked in good order when all cleaned up !! The seal kits came from Questmead but were genuine AP Racing kits .
I have done as you suggested and pumped the brakes up the. Wedged them on hard !! I would say it has improved the situation !!!
Thanks for the advice !! Will let you know how I get on .
Thanks

All the right bits then. Hope wedging the pedal does the trick!

Wow, it's a real super car isn't it? I love it! But is your key not the same as I had when I had a 1993 Ford Fiesta? I always knew that the Fiesta was something special!!

Have you a bleed valve on the heater matrix ? Just a thought my old Skoda used to airlock -bit adrift as a comparator I know but the engine was behind me !
Keep the updates coming.
Stay safe & well

Well, at least you've got your gloves on. At times like this proper PPE can't be ignored!
