It is with considerable disappointment that I need to sell my 240, but unfortunately my father has been taken ill and playtime has been replaced with a life on the M4, a sensible diesel car and grown up stuff.
I bought the car about a year ago with a view to converting it to a turbo with a donor engine from a low mileage 940.
The car is a 2 owner car with stack of bills, a full service history, and most importantly no rust! It had a new clutch just before I bought it and I'll make sure it has a years MOT on it.
It a late model SE, so you get the luxury of a crushed velour interior, front electric windows (that work) heated seats (that work) electric mirrors (that work) and a rev counter (which also works).
It's the 5 speed manual model and I've made a few modifications in anticipation of the conversion that I was hoping to do this spring.
To date I've fitted a decent stereo with hands free and blue tooth so it plays music from your phone (obviously important). The original stereo is available if that's your thing.
I've replaced the standard 14" steels with 17" BBS reps c/w Volvo centre caps.- I know these aren't to everyones liking but I had to start somewhere. They are brand new and have new Nankangs on them.
The suspension has been replaced with new Bilstein shocks and SPAX lowering springs. This has dropped the car 40mm at the rear and 55mm at the front.
I think the front is still too high but I was going to see what difference adding the weight of a turbo + gubbins made to ride, before chopping out another coil.
The donor parts are included in the sale, they are all from a 1996 940 2.3 turbo which was stripped and using for banger racing.
They are:
B230FT engine in great condition with no play in the turbo at all.
new cam belt and tensioner
new rear main bearing seal
new blanking plate for the distributor
exhaust down pipe
the entire loom including ECU, key and clocks
all pipework
intercooler
radiator.
Brand new uprated engine mounts.
Basically everything you need to get the job done.
It's not a straight swap. You need to do some fabrication on the down pipe to make it fit, the auxiliary drive shaft from the existing B200 engine needs to be fitted (need to remove the sump) to drive the dizzy and a turbo oil return line will need to made.
If you go a bit crazy and change the cam, injectors and fiddle with the ECU then 300bhp is not unfeasible. Which would be nice.
Oh and it gets better- if you want it, the car comes with another 240 donor car. It's a 1988 moon and back rotten example, with a full black interior in great nick, and all those useful bits and bobs that just know you will need. You'll need to tow it away, but luckily the SE has tow bar fitted!
Anyway, I'll let the pics do the talking.
The car is in West Sussex.
The price is £2000 (which is way less than it owes me)
My number is 07801 574396
Sad days.
