That looks a cracker, just my type of car. Looks fairly original, nice colour, like the GTi wheels... Winner.
Is it as solid as it looks?

Thanks guys - colour is original but for some bizarre reason the DVLA had it down as changing from blue in 1989, despite the tag stating the correct colour. Think it may have been a mistake in the original V5 but they corrected it via application to change the colour, rather than just saying it was wrong. Might try and get that corrected, but not overly concerned..
Solid as a rock Ade - 99.9% rust free, which is the main reason I bought it. I can do tlc and spannering but not bodywork. Drove superbly all the way home so just really needs going through mechanically and the cosmetics, both as time allows.
Bring on the summer!

Nice boozy buy!! If it doesn't already have one, try and get a Weber replacement carb in place of the Pierberg - it makes a massive difference to how it drives and economy is improved as well.

Thanks for the tip, Dave - I *think* it's got one on there. Frustratingly all history is lost, so have no receipt to prove, but it looks relatively new..!

Spent a few hours in the workshop this week - mostly on mounting new seats for the 205 (not finished yet so no updates..), however had 15 mins on the golf to refit stock amber indicators and stripped the blacked-out grille badge to reveal 'chrome'. Much prefer the 'stock' look. Was Now

The grill is correct Check the bulkhead where the clutch cable goes through and make sure its solid . A very commom rot spot on these i had one and the clutch was slipping fitted a new one and it was still slipping all due to a repair on the bulkhead where the cable went through being welded on in the wrong position .

Thanks commervan - will do (looks like there's some sort of shield in the pic below - wonder if that's hiding a nasty..?) Agreed grifterkid (had a Grifter XL back in the day..! Always thought they were cooler than other general BMXs but man it was heavy !!). Yep, great value indeed - really happy with it. 360beast - very good No mods on this one - going to keep it stock. The GTi wheels can stay as they look good though.. Does anyone know what should mount on the bracket on the left in the pic below..? Cheers
