Model: Peugeot 205 1.6 GTI
Year: 1991
Mileage: 114,880
MOT: None
Location: Tadcaster, N. Yorks
Price: SOLD
The details: Phase 2 Peugeot 205 1.6 GTI in rare laser green, showing 114,880 miles and with 6 former keepers.
Owned by me for approx 12 months, bought as a project that I sadly have not had time to complete, as such it is being sold on as a project with no MOT. I've retained all receipts from my ownership and the car has some history from previous owners consisting of MOTs from 2006> and early history in the service book, detailing services from new up to 1996.
In my ownership I have replaced numerous items, listed below:
Good used 1.6 GTI pepper pot alloy wheels
4 x matching Hankook 185/60/14 tyres
Half leather interior in green/black (good condition but would improve with a clean and feed on the bolsters).
Correct leather GTI steering wheel
OE Peugeot Clarion cassette radio
OE 5 speed gear knob
OE roof aerial and lead
Genuine Peugeot sunroof handle seals
OE passenger side window regulator
Genuine Valeo clear indicators
Door and boot locks on one key (matching ignition switch and fuel cap supplied but not fitted).
Tailgate interior and exterior trims, plus all badges replaced for good used or new (New remanufactured GTI badge via 205drivers forum)
Inlet manifold gasket
New dipstick
Baker BBM silicone oil breather hose kit
OE induction system to replace K&N fitted by a previous owner
New Engine mounts
Denji driving lights mounted on Stainless steel support brackets
Stainless steel rear valance supports (supplied but not fitted)
The car is now looking good but needs mechanical attention due to erratic idling and a blowing exhaust. I had started to try and resolve the idling issue hence new inlet gasket, dipstick, breather hoses and induction system. It is a common Peugeot issue and there are many forum posts, guides and info on resolving the issue, i sadly no longer have the time. The exhaust system is in good clean condition so I suspect a new down pipe gasket will cure the blowing.
The bodywork is in generally good condition and looks great in it's original Laser green paint. The inner wings have been welded in the past and the lower rear quarter panels have also been spot welded in the door shut where it meets the sill, these areas need painting back to body colour. There are no other signs if welding on the car. The drivers side sill is just starting to show signs of rust ahead if the rear wheel, I've pictured this the best I can, and again this is a common spot on 205s.
The bonnet, drivers door and drivers side rear quarter have picked up a few dents over the years whilst being stored in a narrow garage. This lets down the car a bit as the rest of the body is generally clean and looks smart.
The interior now looks good but there are a couple of areas to sort, the glove box latch is broken so does not close and there's 1 piece of grey trim in the otherwise black phase 2 dashboard.
The suspension is all good and the rear beam is not seized and moves freely.
It starts, runs, drives (engaging all gears) and stops nicely but as there is no MOT it will need to be towed/trailered away.
Please get in touch with any questions, I can take photos of any areas not pictured on request.
