	I have a bmw, its not as old as retro, but its a e39 touring. There was some rust on the back arch lips, i sanded it back with a twisted wire head on my grinder, used some cure rust, and sprayed etch then paint i bought in a spray can from local motorfactors. Now, if the paint had just come off, that is what the arch looks like now. Its got a lot of surface rust on it. What is the best thing to do? I want to keep the car, so how do i fight back?

	did it clean up well or still rust on there? my take is brush on rust cures/convertors don't work - maybe better than nothing where removal is impossible i would wire wheel the scabs until clean as possible , then bilt hamber deox gel applied overnight , rinse off and repeat until its 100% clean shiney silver metal and no pits primer...epoxy is best , if not etch then paint this all needs doing whilst being kept dry , don't be smoking about in the rain while its in primer

	yeah or in some cases its rusting from inside out so needs cutting off and new metal welding in its one job where you want to do it once and do it right

	right thanks! I had the wire brush thing in the grinder on it, and all the rush had gone, but i think it may have been the paint at fault, so ill do it again and use the bilt hamber deox gel on it. I have just bought some on ebay. I want to keep the car and don't want it looking like a heap. thanks!
