So today went for a full geom set up/suspension set up at a local motorsport garage in derby these guys set up rooks of competition cars every week. After much trial and fiddling i settled for 0 toe front camber -1.5 1.5 toe rear camber 1.7 Caster 1.2° front. Rear damping +27 front +22 hight set accordingly they also did a pre mot and checked over my spanner work everythings tight and theres no reason the car would fail (apart from headlamps + plates) Thismorning on the way there i planted it in 2nd left onto a duel carage way... back end was out. Did the same at lunch.. the back wouldnt budge (well would with clutch ) Mega happy is a understatement

Thanks guys had a nightmare today Ive had a gremlin with my fuel system since ive had it which causes random cut outs and no fuel being delivered. I thought id sorted its with replacing: New tank New lines New walbra fuel pump Reconned injectors New fpr + fuel rail New fuel pump relay all was fine last summer after replacing it apart from fuel cut on tight rh corners... then today belted it of the lights quick and suprise suprise it plays silly buggers.... it started and after a while then conked left it a hour the started got 200 yard and died. Had to get recovered in. I'm at a loss with it atm.

Picked the saab b204 engine up yesterday 1999 9-3 t5 engine 78k miles Stripped of all ancillaries and started to degrease Ive pulled the rocker cover off and the cam has zero wear it looks really well looked after I'm fitting 3.5bar map sensor 3 bar fpr Uprated valve springs Fmic 630cc injectors And either a holset hx35 or garret gt28r This will run a safe 400-420hp safely A little update removed the sump, pully and cam chain casing Its plain to see its had regular oil changes and the cam tensioners ect are in good condition... very little schrapnel in the oil strainer the sumps off to be cleaned then ill start cutting and making the custom sump. Ive gotto overcome the issue with clearence over the subframe so ive measured up and having it modified. I'm binning of the anti shudderthis will release some power and liven the engine up (smaller chain shown here) Also sorted the bolts out to get galvanised

Ii supply laser cut steel sump flanges if you want to do a rear well sump . Sold most to people who tried to go with a modded front well sump and found out the hard way

It's a lot easier to make physics and gravity work for you than fight them .if you have to stick with the front well make room for plenty of capacity so you keep the pickup covered . I worked out that roughly 800-1000ml is in the system as its running as the cam chest holds quite a bit to keep the lobes wet so your 4.5 litres is more like 3.5 . The rear well sumps I've made carry 6 litres usually with wing extensions either side and trap doors with a baffle plate over the well .

Not done an e30 but did an e36 last year and got a rear well sump in . As long as you have it so it's very hard for oil to climb out of the pan will work but most just flatten the bottom of the stock sump and hope for the best

Even to fit an engine from an e36 you have to use a front well sump from a 5 series. That sump you have pictures of if I recollect was in an orange touring from memory, it was never finished, I don't know if anyone ever got the engine into something after it was sold on. I think the sump hung down very low. You know the red e30 m3 with the Saab engine, I think this is the sump from it and it clearly works so this might be a better option. I'm having the same issues in my e21, the sump I have made only holds 2.5 litres so I'm going to extend the well forward under the front pulley.

I'm taking a sump up and trial fitting it first to see what clearence i have i can see the sump being a trial/rework job until i get it right. I'm keeping the oil strainer too. I'm modifying the pick up so its still functional ?

I've got some parts to do a semi dry sump using a twin port scavenge pump from a nascar rear diff . Two ports draw from a tapered sump then pumped up to a tank that gravity feeds the std pump through the original transfer port in the front of the sump .

Little update Ive gone for a different gearbox now ive gone for a getrag 265, also managed to pick this up for a good price its saved me no end of work. Just afew more bits and i can rip the b25 out and get the engine mock fitted. I'm making the mounts for the box and engine Bell housing (getrag 265> gm pattern) Updates are going to be a touch slow for a while.

How have I missed this.
This is a brilliantly executed build and great attention to detail.
