I want to widen the wheels on my 230.6 but want to keep the original hubcaps rather than going to alloys. can any of the /8 owners who have wider wheels of any sort make recomendations as to optimal wheel size please?
Apparently the W107s had 6.5x 14 steels which take the hubcaps and have the right offset but I'm not 100% sure whether they will fit standard arches. Does anyone know? Probably would be more expensive than banding the existing.
And in general, to keep the stress the same on the wheel bearing, is it just a matter of keeping the inset/offset the same as you widen?
Finally more subjective, what's the thinking on fatter all round or fat just at the rear in terms of both looks and handling?
Thanks
