Just picked up my new toy! A 1977 Toyota Corona! its great! Its a 5 speed manual 2.0, its pretty tidy really, runs fantstically. Only real plans at the moment are lows and wheels, so anyone got any experience in the matter? Pretty sure they're 4x114.3 right? leafs on the black so 2" blocks and shorter springs and dampers in the front Anyone got any inspiration for me?!

Nice car. That is in really good condition for it's age, especially in the UK! In Australia, there are still a fair few of these left, but they are very unloved.

Blimey - that's amazing. Those things used to be absolute rotboxes - how on earth has someone kept it in that kind of condition all these years?

Well that's confirmed I need wing mounted mirrors on it! It's been heavily waxoiled from new it seems! Think there might be filler in the rear arches but the rest seems very solid! Even the entire engine bay has been done in clear waxoil Possibly looking at Scimitar wheels, as 4x4.5" is 4x114.3 which opens up some more wheel choices! Don't want to abuse it too much, as you say it is a very rare car indeed! Haven't seen any Corona's for sale in the UK at all, very common in Australia though

Very cool car, Pics in bournemouth ?
My First step would be getting someone like statesplates to make up some pressed yank style plates for it ... (as i think its the closest you'll get to japanese plates here)
That way the massive uk numberplates wont be the focal point of the car, That front plate you have is sitting in the original Japanase plate indent
Unless you can get Japanese style plates? Its such a rare car i think you can go the Jdm route without it being a bit sad.
Oh and lose the towbar

Pictures were taken at Barton on sea cliff front! (Was a Bournemouth car)
Definitely looking at J plates, I'd love black and silver plates but it's not old enough so smaller J plates will have to do! How small can I go legally? Any different laws on font style for this age too?

Ha. That car park is right by my old flat.
Nice car, looks like the sort of thing my mate Paul turns up (don't know how he does it).
I believe the formula will work well on it.

How small can I go legally? Any different laws on font style for this age too? That's a beauty ride mate, hordes of potential, and with that stud pattern you have some awesome choice in rims! Being post '73 and pre 2001 (slightly different rules on post 2001 I think) you need to follow the regular rules on plate font and style. If it's an import, and/or doesn't have the mounting recess size for regular plates then you can use a square 'bike style' plate, but still follow the font rules. Here's some official gov. Info, if it helps..
