Model: Mazda Eunos Roadster V Special
Year: 1992
Mileage: 140,000km (~86,000m)
MOT: 09-08-2015
Location: Coventry, CV5
Price: £1100
This example of Mazda's brilliant little sports car has only covered just shy of 140,000km, and was imported from Japan to these shores back in 1998. Since then I am the 4th owner. I have all the paper work to back this up including the original import forms as well as the original Citroën Eunos Owner’s manual. As well as these I have a comprehensive collection of receipts and all the previous MoTs to back up the mileage (kilometerage?)
Being an original 'V Special' version of the Japanese MX5, this comes with all the extra goodies that came on this trim level, such as, the full 115bhp 1.6 revvy little power plant, limited slip differential, air conditioning, power assisted steering, leather seats (with headrest speakers) and electric windows. This one also comes with a fibreglass hardtop with heated glass window and the full Nardi interior pack (wood rimmed steering wheel, wooden gear stick and wood hand brake). Aftermarket additions include 14inch black-racing br8 3 piece split rim alloys, a roll over style bar and a good quality alpine CD head unit.
I had planned to own this little car for a long time, and for this reason, I have carried out a lot of preventative maintenance and servicing with no money spared. Around 18 months ago I took it off the road for a short amount of time and gave it a full proper service; cam belt, water pump, aux belts, fluids and filters. Since then I have also replace all brake pads, tyres, alternator and most recently installed a brand new radiator.
It is with a heavy heart that I put this on the market. Like I have said, I had planned to keep this for a good long while but sadly circumstances change, and I've had to buy a bigger car.
As the following photos will demonstrate, this is a 23 year old car and although overall the condition is good there are a few areas that age has taken its toll. Previous owners have scraped the front corner slightly from the lower corner of the nose cone to the eyebrow of the wheel arch. There is a car park ding right in the middle of the driver’s door. And the other day on the way to work, after winding the window down for the barrier it didn't come back up, the cable has snapped in the mechanism, I have managed to tighten the remaining cable so it is now stuck up until I find a replacement motor assembly.
Overall these slight negatives don't detract from what otherwise is a great car. Both the soft top and the hard top are watertight. The engine is on song, pulling right through the rev range and sounding good, the gear box is slick with good positive gear changes and the suspension holds the road exceptionally with no rattles knocks or bangs.
