Hi all, I'm in need of a passenger side (left of the car) headlamp unit for my 1995 Audi Cabriolet. An S2 Coupé or very late 80 would probably be the same -- it's the one with a separate main beam reflector (unlike the older 80s) but not the one with "angel eye" projectors (like the run-out model Cabrios from 1999). The old one has a tired reflector and also a broken mounting bracket and it's going to be an MoT fail. So if you have one with a broken or missing lens but the rest of the unit's okay, I'd still be interested. To my real surprise they don't seem to be available now from any parts suppliers. There are a handful of "angel eye" style flashy upgrades available at enormous prices on eBay, plus some later projector-lens models also at really crazy prices, but they require ballast and need to be installed as a pair apparently making the price more than the car's worth. There are a few older Audi 80 units around online, but none of the Cabrio style with the separate main beam reflector that I need. So I'm counting on you guys to search your sheds!

Hey Del, nice surprise to see you here!
And thanks for the links guys, I'll ask there as well. No luck with my own Audi club, but it's great that there are more to choose from.
I'm getting some very funny looks in breakers yards this week. A lot of people hear "Audi Cabriolet" and seem to assume you're too dumb to know whether it's an A3, A4, TT, etc...

Hello. I have a 95 cabriolet which I'm guessing has the same lights as yours. I knew they were different from a lot of normal Audi 80 coupes I've seen but didn't realise they were so rare? I've seen the headlights on ebay for over 100 quid a side. Thought it was just someone taking the mick. Seem to be loads breaking for spares on there. Surely if you message every one you can find breaking a B4 cab' on ebay someone will get back to you with a reasonable price? I think the front end changed on the 80 around 91-92 so don't bank on a late 80's light being the same. Good luck with your search.

It's been a huge surprise how bad the availability is. I've messaged literally dozens that are being "broken" on eBay etc. and they all seem to have front end smashes or lights that sold very quickly! Partly to blame is that Audi changed the design during the life of the Cabrio so your one pictured above (and the one in that most recent link) with the projectors is not the same. Those are available, usually at quite silly prices though, and I'd need to buy two to look okay, and even then I've had conflicting advice about whether they work without buying a special control/ballast module my car wouldn't have... I've finally found one for sensible money through the Classic-Audi forum though. Thanks so much for the links and suggestions. To clarify for anyone in future, I'll put a picture of the right sort of lights below. They're definitely fitted on Cabrios up to 1995 (including my current N-reg car built 12/95) so I guess your M-reg one shown above suggests Audi mucked about even more than I thought! Is it the (youngest model) 1.8 perhaps? Mine's the 2.0. BTW, I found that the 1995 80 Avant had the same lights, in case that helps anyone.

No mine/ours is a 2.0ltr 8 valve. I adore it totally! Such a lovely drive & such a handsome car. I would ideally love a coupe in the same colour for the winter months but the wife wants a TT as they are smaller. You have obviously done your homework regards the model. I am interested to know the variations that exist.
