hi guys, after a year of driving my estate, i decided i needed something just like it but faster, i hunted high and low for the right car, and this one turned up on my door step, it had a few... interesting mods on it, but the basic car was nice and standard, original springs and shocks and original exhaust, both in good condition. so after removing a some tacky chrome from the engine bay, endless amounts of speaker cable, oh and a wooden parcel shelf. A bit of recommissioning work, brakes coolant hoses etc, and as of last week, a gearbox rebuild... we should be on the road the beggining of the month, excited is an understatement. some pics.

I dream about finding an original Seirra Cosworth. Yours looks like it has the 4x4 bonnet. Is it a 4x4?
Lovely car. Not many left that havent been chav'd up.

That is a real nice looking car, no silly mods or aftermarket wheels, just spot on, lucky fella!

its got the 4x4 bonnet, and on G plate is supposed to be on amber indicators. but the clear indicators suit the grey imo so they are staying, and i couldnt get rid of those vents !

Lovely. So nice to see a nice Saph, ones tipped up at work, ropey but with definite potential! Really must find out who it belongs to!

what a day, went to brum today to get my mate some parts for his xr3, couldnt resist taking the cos, faultless drive, and what an awesome car. its not a car that needs to be thrashed, it can be driven so nicely and the power is just there when you need it. it needs a few niggily bits to do but its all on the road and I'm over the moon, a few pics just to make sure nobody scratches it lol looking a tad mucky after a trip on the motorway

just to make sure nobody scratches it lol Nice looking motor and good to know I'm not the only one paranoid about car parks. Most of them here are multi storey in malls so if I have to use them, I arrive bang on opening time and go to the highest floor possible and as far away from the entrance as I can get. Means I walk miles but have no car park dings. In the apartment, I have an agreement with my neighbor. He doesn't open his door onto mine and I don't lift the suspension, pop it into low box and park 2 tons of Range Rover on his little Hyundai. Seems to work!

Nice ride. I remember when these appeared - often seen from the passenger seat of my dad's Sierra diesel workhorse/tractor in the 80s. They seemed a bit of a watered down vision after the fully blown hooligan forerunner with the wing. Now looking good.

It is lovely to see a stock(ish) Saphire . These have been on my 'to own' list for quite some time but that day will have to wait. That said, I would modify some areas whilst keeping an OEM touch like Silicone boost hoses ; IME modern (pattern) hoses don't seem to last a year before they perish, leak, and generally feel like you have wasted time and effort .

That really is a very splendid looking machine...!!!
I think the Sapphire shape is lovely and yours looks tip-top...
These motors are still remarkable value so I think you've dived in just at the right time!
Nice one...

well been using the saph about 5 months now for daily duties and I'm loving it, the attention it gets, the amount of modern tat it annoys is brilliant too, going to do a few bits over the winter, keep her off the road when the gritters come out, planning a refurb of the turbo and maybe a freshen up of the head..
