Not for ages either.
Do we need to set ourselves a challenge to go out for a drive within the next week, with spots and other photos of interesting stuff or our cars in cool places?
Edit: Typed this thread when it was halfway down page 1, just got the oppertunity to post it after teaching in another room for an hour.

Sometimes do, but mostly to get to somewhere really, the other month my brother was on a real downer after being made redundant so we took his Caterham for a blat to nowhere and back again, just for the heck of it ;D

I was working on my car yesterday and I had all the interior out (trying to find a damn water leak) including spare wheel and sound proofing. I bolted in my drivers side recaro and went for a spin, a spin turned out to be a 30min tyre squealing ride! Taking out all interior really makes a difference.

About once a month,.. the car doesn't get used regularly for anything that matters so I just take it for a drive around Somerset to blow out the cobwebs,... then its back in the garage...
I used to love going for late night/early morning drives around London, come out of a club at 3am and then just drive around pretty much empty roads for an hour or so... brilliant.

Good point Autofive, that advert with the engines buzzing about and the syrupy voice telling us to keep the revs down - as soon as I heard the word "CO2" I could have fu*king headbutted my cactus collection one by one - its an invitation for us all to get everything we`ve got running as rich as possible and redlining it everywhere. F*ckers! I`m off out in the XR4 and I`m not coming out of 2nd the whole time!

F*ckers! I`m off out in the XR4 and I`m not coming out of 2nd the whole time! On Saturday night my frined pondered about some small guilt he felt driving a 4.7l muscle car for no reason. Then I saw a G-whizz go the other way and reckoned that that was our carbon offset for the evening sorted.

I just got back (Sat) from picking this up from Londoon (I live in Chester) and 5 hrs later, in sunny, hot weather and loads of traffic, I finally got home, and had a decent poke around the car and gave the inside a little clean (was veery dusty). Wasnt gonna tak e it to my lock up until the next day 924hr insurance thing) but then a few hours later, when the sun was settig, I had an urge to just drive the thing, so out I went and did the senic tour or my town, and just plodded along like a OAP, and it was fun! I think the fact it was a nice nite and stuff helped but it felt good just driving a boggo std car thats old as I havent done it in a while! But getting back into my 05 pate Golf TDI was wierd! everything just felt so heavey and harsh compared to thr old Toyota!

Its good to do - doesn't really matter what car you use either. No destination, no eta just a summer's evening on your own.
I took the wife's Fiesta 1.25 for a run "to test the brakes". Ended up in another county - not because they weren't working though!! Its good fun that little car!

When I fit the new wheels to the Charmant I went for a drive out, thinly-veiled as testing the tyre pressures. Also bonus petrol filling action.

I'm always driving just for the heck of it ;D i've done 10k in 6months and i only live 4miles from work and i only work four days per week I find driving very relaxing, i always have. So when i finish work, I generally take a 30mins detour, music on and wind down. It doesn't help working in a high pressure enviroment

Tell you whats good as well, out in the middle of nowhere at night, no streetlights, nothing else about, old motor with really pi*s - weak dashboard lights - nothing but the rasp of a blowing exhaust, the whirr of a worn out diff and the feeble but strangely comforting glow of the oil pressure warning light as its fades in and out.

Can you get bored of your car and hence driving?
I haven't ridden my bike aimlessly for quite some time, and while that is due largely to lack of money and time, could it because I'm bored of 11bhp and 55mph?
Or am I just a young boy racer who should enjoy the slower pace of life?

Quite often for short to medium distances 20 to 100 miles or so. Been a long time since I did a longer, no mission drive. There are a lot of cracking roads near where I live and I still have not explored them all fully. I think I feel another late night border assualt coming soon though
