...you know, no destination, no reason to go other than just to drive?
I haven't done that for a long long time. Don't get me wrong, I look for reasons to take the car out all the time, but there's always been an end-point in mind whether it's going to the bank, a mates house or whatever. I haven't just driven for ages.

I've gone on errands or suggested day trips just to drive, but nnot just for the sake of it random driving for ages. Like years. Or a decade or more.

I saw a VW advert this morning that said exactly that..... I might have stolen it from that ad.... ;D Got me thinking though. Which is a change from the other car ads which instigate vitriolic rage in me...

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

Not something I do that often anymore although I will sometimes take a scenic route just for the fun of it.

Not too long ago. Sunday morning is the best time to do it, get out early and blast down the nearest B-road ;D

Sunday evenings I do try and go for a blast. Not a drive as such just go and drive on empty roads... It's a great time to drive.
If I ever die in a fireball - it will be on a sunday afternoon ;D

Err - does finding an excuse to take the car out count.........
Cos I do that quite a lot - normally preceeded by the "just got to go see X and see if he has a left handed sprocket puller so I can finish the Y"
She's never sussed that whatever it is doesn't exist or that I never needed one in the first place ;D

very rarely.
unless a skite in tango two night ago counts, but that was sort of just to clear the carb after being flooded and oiled up...

I rarely get the opportunity to go on long drives these days compared to when I was a young free, single student I once went on a mad drive with no map leaving Manchester at Sunday lunchtime and I ended up not too far from Snowdonia! Got back in time for dinner. I didn't do the driving but did go for a cruise round the West End in my mates Mustang on Saturday night and had huge fun laughing at drunk people. Town cruising is what I tend to do for pointless drives. I enjoy the people watching and being a watched person in an odd car. Its more fun in something loud, low and custom and it obviously needs to not mind lots of traffic so its one reason I need to sort out the Saabs current issues.

Did it quite a lot at night a couple of months ago when I first got the grey and was treating him like a new born baby or something, just driving around on empty dual carriageways and A-roads, it seemed to settle both him and me no end, something really relaxing about driving under orange streetlamps at night with no-one else around, almost a bit too relaxing to be honest (Do it while you can, those new white street lights just don't have the same effect) . That Golf advert prompted me to do it again, nice one VW, finally an ad that doesnt get on my nerves.
