Are the early XJS (Salisbury) and later XJS (GKN) powerlock diffs both compatible with the 4HA axle?
I know mid 80's jaguar dabbled in Dana units that are different, I'm just unsure of the GKN compatibility.
Anyone know?

I don't know about the compatabilty, but I do know you need to make or buy hardened thrust spacers for the centre to hold the semi-floating shafts in place.

Hi, early XJ, XJS, DS420 limo/hearse diffs fit straight into 4HA axles, the limo/hearse & V12 cars all had Powerlok diffs, all other models were optional, so you'll have to check for the extra metal tag under one of the backplate bolts.
We used to buy all the Jag Powerloks we could get to fit into Sunbeam Tigers.
You'll have to make up 2 little thrust buttons that fit into either side of the diff if you're transplanting one into a solid axle, we used to knock 'em up in the lathe & harden them ourselves (a straight forward job), so a machine shop should be able to do it with ease, or they may be readily available to buy nowadays?
I don't think that the later diffs will fit, but I have no experience of these?
