MOT expired on august 13th at which point i was 4 counties away "on holiday", most of which i spent in bed crippled with back pain. first time its ever happened, the back pain i mean not a holiday, i ended up in A+E on day 2 and got some lovely pills called Diazepam. they used to be an antidepressant in the old days, branded Valium and given out like smarties but only to middle age women in american tv shows. in my case they now use them for muscle relaxant side effect. my best description of how they feel are that sense of achievement/relaxation in the water closet after passing an abnormally rotund chocolate hostage
anyway, i also missed its 37th birthday on 12th august (tutt) so now the MOT anniversary has shifted to September i only have 3 compulsory MOT left !
it failed on a non working front offside indicator, which perked up with a wiggle in the holder and got a pass.

Just read the last 3 pages, I'm a bit out of date with updates... For those not familiar, there's so many things that can come loose, wobble or dribble on these things that a stop light pales into insignificance! 😊 This is a quote from the overland and expedition chapter of the excellent 'The Off-Road Four Wheel Drive Book' by Jack Jackson; "If you buy a new Land Rover it helps to run it in a wet country before taking it to a hot dry country, this helps to rust in all the bolts holding the bodywork and roof together and can save you having to tighten up loose bolts later when the vehicle has been bouncing around on rough tracks." back in the diary spring 2015 i had a puncture because the wheels were rusting from the inside, it had gone thin around the valve hole and sliced the inner tube, then i repaired the wheel and put it on the back door as the spare.  (note this is the BACK of the welds !)  so! i had some paddocks vouchers last christmas with a now looming expiry date, i stuck in an order for 5x new OEM steel wheels. my originals are 5 inch short wheel base versions (which is correct) but someone had put long wheel base 750 tyres on them (not correct, too wide for the wheels) so the wheels i have bought are 109" LWB 5.5" wide steels. plus they are later 33 offset. so i will get a tiny gain in rim width AND track width. if i have been a good boy this year santa might bring me a nice mid range gravity fed spray gun so i can limestone them up.     |

Darren - A gravity feed gun does not have the same air demand requirements has a suction feed gun - suction feed probably needs 40 - 60 psi has it requires the airflow across the suction pick up pipe to create the vacuum that is required to lift the paint out the pot and deliver it to the fluid tip - gravity feed does not require the suction has the paint just gravity flows to the fluid tip - hence 15 - 25 psi required - however with such a small receiver you will be lucky to get a single panel painted before running out of air - but carefully planned it can be done i.e. paint the panel then wait for the compressor to refill the air receiver before commencing the next panel - ideally you need a mini air pressure regulator to go on the gun - this allows you to be economic with the air use - I would rather help where I can rather than see anyone waste time & money on useless bits of kit. |

Nice, shiny stuff to get dirty. What tyres you going to run ?We are running defender wheels and tyres which work well.
Oddly with the 205 80 16” on the speedo is the most accurate in the fleet dead on at 30

Nice, shiny stuff to get dirty. What tyres you going to run ?We are running defender wheels and tyres which work well. Oddly with the 205 80 16” on the speedo is the most accurate in the fleet dead on at 30 James i'm running goodyear G90 in 750R16 flavour, which will get transferred over (yep i nearly slid into a ditch and died just by typing their name from the house) effectively making everything 109 spec. my speedo bounces around like a windscreen wiper but the average is a bit under what i think is correct |

At the moment loving the reading about the rolling restoration, reason I'm loving it at the moment is because I've had a 72 diesel and a 82county station wagon and thought I'd have a gander at this and now thinking I miss having a series so if I decide to get another one I could be not liking this lol, but you are doing a grand job though keep up the good work. Stu ps meaning that finding bodges and fixing it when I could be driving annoying
