When I think back to the countless frustrating attempts of fitting 911 front screens... I wholeheartedly agree! There's jobs you better give to the professionals (and apparently even they need a couple of attempts). Coming along now! Not much left? This is going to be great!

I don't know about never getting another Allegro to do, there seems to be a fair few around the midlands again at the mo! Glad you've got the glass in Ed, home straight now?

Yep it's pretty much ready for an mot / road test. Ordered another indicator flasher as the random one that's in is far too fast. Going to repaint the rocker cover as it's peeling, the metal gaskets squash to seal so ordered another one. Started it up last night for the first time in 4 weeks. Fired first crank and runs good, not how it normally goes with Allegros

This is absolutely superb! HERO MODE ENGAGED!
Just read the whole thing start to finish, well done that man.
A little word of warning to anyone else reading and thinking about painting their own car themselves though; unless you've got the full professional, air fed breathing gear then the only paint suitable for home spraying is cellulose. 2k is very very bad for you with the isocyanates and a simple 3M mask won't be good enough (fine for cellulose).
Cracking work and I hope you hit the road/track soon.
Another question, what are you going to run it in? Why would you MSA Log Book it?
Fritz

Not quite correct on the 2K paint - perfectly safe if you follow proper H&S and have good extractor fans.
Cellulose can also kill - so not strictly safe either if used incorrectly.

Just going for generic track days at the moment but it would be sports libre for hillclimbs, driving it to / from events is easier but always a worry on the getting home front. If it ever became a trailer queen it was have to be msa logbooked, hoping that won't be the case though as looking forward to rocking up at work in it Wipers and squirters all fitted, repainting the ally rocker cover at the moment as it was rattle canned and now peeling.

Not been to that one before, looks fairly local though, mg club have an event in May. Do you have to join the sdcc track car club for their events ?

Not sure, I've driven it a few times when I was in the Avenger club and it was pay and play 😆, the wife's uncle used to sprint his Ginetta there when he was a member of Shenstone car club (he had the track record at one time), its a great little track and a bit if a hidden gem. www.curborough.co.uk/sdcc-membership/

Thanks Rocker cover stripped, etch primed this time ready for 2k paint rather then a rattle can. Bought myself a big bra, very useful for shopping and helmets. Mini GT style stripes?

I'm never sure about stickers on bodywork, normally they look naff. I do really like Mini Gt stripes for some reason though. Happy with them, not too ott with them being low down, even with orange text.

Just read this thread from the start. You have really done a stunning job building this from scratch. The attention to detail is incredible, i like the race/ track theme as well as keeping it looking stock-ish. I think this needs to be at Stowe Park on 14th July for the Festival Of The Unexceptional. It'll look VERY exceptional.
