Had a local welder / fabricator come have to look today, looks like its on!
I will crack on with taking off the Allegro suspension etc Just been taking off ball joints before it started raining, the top one is stuck on the passenger side and the bottom one on the drivers side! Fun times.
Also had a closer look at my TF frame, the rear subframe mounts can go in two places, on a metro they go higher up than on the mgf - how handy is that, two places custom mounts could go!

Indeed, I don't think he had it long but he changed the headgasket. Seems solid so far, done about 800 miles in it now, can't complain for a £200 donor car.
Still looking for an mgzr, almost bought one today but it went up a bit more than I wanted to pay, lots about though.
Tried a Volvo alloy on the Allegro, looks daft!

Picking up an mgf vvc on Saturday It's had a complete top end engine rebuild in the last few years too.
I found that by using an mgf I'd have a hydro clutch, driveshafts and the front brakes.
Would just need a 52mm throttle body, gear linkage and I'm away (kinda) !

Excellent project. Have got quite a soft spot for Allegros these days and wondered how much of a job a K series transplant would be.
Bookmarked and following with great interest.

Excellent project.
Out of interest, in my experience the edis you have is off the ohv fiesta/escort 11/1300's. I did some back to back testing with one of these and the later cvh esc out of mk3/mk5 escorts on a zetec (nearly 14 years ago now ouch).
I believe the cvh one to been so, so much better as I reckoned the red edis thingy had an advance curve that was more pretty lame as it was designed to stop the ohv's from being revved.
Anyway I always pass on this info when I can.
Top project and if I was closer I'd volunteer to help fabricate it all for pennies. :-)

I was running it on the red esc module, once it was running it was certainly better, more power.
Cold starts were hard work though, took a lot more turning over to get it to fire.
Not sure if it was just the bike carb setup.

Well I got the mgf, drives nice and straight, runs very well, nice and smooth.
Only problem is the ecu seems to be limiting the rpm to 5800rpm so no vvc at the moment!
I'm hoping its just the cam sensor. Tried leaving off the battery and reseating the connector but no joy.
All the other connectors seem correct, whats the best way to diagnose it? its not obd2!

It currently has stag wheels on it, powder coated white, looks good but they wont fit metro hubs. Looks like it will end up with mgf wheels.

I got water pipes from a front engined car today, also got gear linkage, with a Rover 200vi attached to them! Only problem is this is now my driveway! Anyone want a Rover 114gsi, needs a new home?
