thanks all, was looking at the mk3 round lights as they have put in that corvette / allegro Decided I need to stick with the square lights and keep the 'curse word' car image that's kind of the point of it Plan is to have engine mounted by the end of summer, hopefully get it on the road before this time next year - when does it ever go to plan though eh!

Just been having a look at the v8 Allegro, it's a Corvette C4 with an Allegro body on, I say it doesn't count as it's still a Chevy, left hand drive too.
Looks so amazing though, those rear wheels are mega wide, will be looking to see what they do with the front grille, love the front spoiler but don't think I could pull it off with stockish arches, maybe a smaller version though. Ideas flooding in lol
Good lord, that is ridiculously good looking! And I love the idea of a sleeper Allegro. I shared my Grandads 1500 super with my Mum and my brother when all my mates had RS's and it always kept up pretty well! Massively underrated IMHO! Look forward to progress.

Frame looks good from here but still needs to go back an inch and up an inch, more cutting needed. Stripped the front end, looking sorry for itself! Frame definitely needs to go back and up!

From the pictures it looks like the allegro has a structure very similar to the MGF subframe already built into the front end. Is there any way you could incorporate the bit's of subframe you need with whats there already ? I'm surprised just how similar it all looks. With the towers lined up does that put the wheels in the arch in the correct position ?

Yeah I think the metro / mgf subframe could almost be an evolution of the Allegro front end, noticed it when I first looked at the subframe and decided it has to be done.
The track of the TF is about 8mm wider so the arches will need rolling! The TF towers would fit exaclty into the Allegro turrets if they were skinnyer. The wheels are about an inch and a half forward with the towers in the turrets. Not the end of the world on its own but I need the room at the front and the steering rack would run striaght then. The Allegro track rod ends fit into the metro steering arms perfectly too.
Shame to cut into the pertruding part of the firewall but I am going to have to. I think its cavity inside so should be able to plate it over and will be out of sight. Will have to cut into the back of the turrets too but it wants to be done right. Will be able to push the subframe back as far as the steering rack, subframe will need cutting at little for the rack box to poke through and some holes for bolt access.
Gutted it doesnt slot straight in as it looked like it should, cant say anyone has tried it before though. Temped to cut the middle out the back of the subframe and weld a bar in but wouldnt gain much. It may end up with a cool strut brace though!

Haha yeah the thought of a back wheel coming off at 100mph has crossed my mind, don't think were designed with speed in mind!
Rear is all standard for now, may convert it to disks and coilovers down the line but lots of work.

Decided my 13" steering wheel is too small, couldn't see the top half of the speedo before. Ordered a 14" one with a bit of dish, also a slim quick release collar - may or may not use that. Need to order a kk154x boss now, like the idea of it being crushable. As for the speedo - MGF clocks? Should have kept the top cover Or this is my preferred solution Got an Acewell this week, the mount can go the other way up. going to take the entire dash out I think , the car's wiring is pretty good but I will have to change a lot of it.

Love this. Could you not fit the MG clocks in the Allegro binnacle?

Love this. Could you not fit the MG clocks in the Allegro binnacle? Definitely this. Make it look like the MG badged hot Allegro that BL should have built.

Love this. Could you not fit the MG clocks in the Allegro binnacle? Nice idea but they are too tall. Hoping with the digital dash I will be able to mount it just right. This Argo is going hitec like BL promised lol.

Post man has been This stuff came direct from China in a week, tax free Pump, filter and Alloy 30 Litre tank. The brackets on the tank took a beating through the Airport sorting! They are fairly thick though and should bend back easy. Hmm the sender float is only about half way down at it's lowest point, will have plenty of fuel left when the gauge says empty. It has about 2" of foam in the bottom, was expecting more. Is that enough? Was thinking I could try and add a block with a cut out for the sender. It has a lower part inside the tank so shouldn't need a swirl pot, will mount it with the outlets towards the rear of the car, maybe at a slight angle so there is always fuel at the outlet.

Love the progress on this, I sat in mine today and had a little cry at my total lack of progress, is the dash cracked on the top or is it ok?

Its ok (I think) bar a few holes where stuff used to be. Started this in Feb so not that much progress, hopefully will have the subframe where it needs to be this weekend Collecting bits slowly ready to build it.

Decided the dash is probably not going back in. Going to cut the folded part out and weld in a bar, which will link into the roll cage Going to have an ally center console and mount a red top battery behind it, can have an isolator in it then. At least my floors are good, ordered some awesome ally seats today

Had to cut into the steering rack mount section but that will get remade, rear of the subframe now fits! Started cleaning up the subframe today, got rid of all the bits of brackets where the front arb used to be - thats something else I have to sort down the line.

Chin spoiler should hide that front section of the subframe quite well, I think some minis with chin spoilers look a little backwards, one reason I went Vauxhall with the mini. Should work well on this though.

The MGF clocks are too big, my Rover 200 ones are a little smaller. It's going down the stripped out path though so hoping to use the Acewell. Main reason is safety, I have done national speed limit on a country road in it and I think a hedge would win in a fight! For that reason (and because it looks cool and will improve handling) it's going to have a cage, and not a crappy show type one either. The standard car should actually have a small chin spoiler, or cover to hide where the front tie rods bolted through the front of the chassis. Mine was missing this, think it's had an accident repair in the past. So a slightly bigger one should't look too bad. I will probably have to roll the front arches, don't want the body looking too messed with though. I bought a brand new ali grill surround - came in the BL box too! I might make a mesh type front grill instead of the plasic to make it look a little different. I love the mk1 grill like the pic above but have not found one for sale yet or I might just use one of those. I was also thinking mesh the whole lot off and hide the headlights, like a Charger! (or maybe not) Have to go pick these up at some point soon
