Finally have a replacement for this so it's time I moved it on, will be sad to see it go but I need something more suited to pulling my caravan. This literally is the best car I've ever had, and to be honest I'm not 100% sure whether it's replacement is as good now I've done a couple of hundred miles in it, but that may just be some buyers remorse creeping in - time will tell.
Done 11k in a year in it myself, 20 miles a day, 2 trips to Cornwall and 2 to London, and it hasn't let me down once.
Exterior - It's a rare colour, Nutria brown, and although brown may not sound like the most attractive colour it looks great polished up in the sun. The only cosmetic issue worth mentioning is that it had a knock on the front nearside corner before I bought it. Nothing serious, just a bent wing and corner of the bonnet, and it was repaired by the previous owner without insurance being involved so it isn't recorded, but as you can see in the photos the paint isn't a perfect match. People don't notice it until you point it out. Besides that it's very, very tidy with just a couple of tiny parking dings. It has a towbar with single electrics which work perfectly. Its lowered 40mm on proper lowering springs and fitted with AMG style 15" alloys from a C280 Sport, with budget tyres with plenty of tread. Really does look good, gets compliments all the time. No rust that I know of.
Interior - Cream cloth in good condition, a couple of barely noticeable stains but no rips or tears. Fairly basic, has electric front windows, electric passenger mirror, manual sunroof that doesn't leak, extended centre console, and a nice Blaupunkt tape deck that plays perfectly. Heater gets going quickly and gets very hot.
Mechanical - Just passed it's MOT with no advisories, and it is in great shape mechanically. Full history until I bought it, serviced by me since, just done 3k ago. Had a new water pump and blower motor in the last year, both done by me with receipts for parts. Runs smooth with no smoke, idle can sometimes be slightly erratic maybe 1 day out of 10, idle control valve needs a clean, I'll try do that before it's sold. Gearbox is tight and quiet, slight groan from the back axle on overrun but that's very common. Clutch is good, no slipping and bites about half way, nice and light. Steering is sharp with good tracking, suspension quiet except a slight knock over big bumps due to the shock mounts getting a little worn, separate from the springs though so a 15 minute job. Brakes are strong and the ABS works, pulls up evenly.
Important stuff if you couldn't be bothered to read all that:
- 12 months MOT, no advisories
- 135k
- Nearly full service history with a few done DIY
- New water pump and blower motor
- Tow bar with working electrics
- Blaupunkt tape deck
£800
This is the mismatched paint:
I'll throw in the Haynes book of lies:
Mucky under here but I'd rather that than clean it and look like I'm hiding leaks:
Recent water pump:
Strut tops perishing causing a slight knock on big bumps, but easy to fix, didn't even get an advisory for it:
