The rain just started lashing against my window as I began to write this post, its an apt sign of how miserable I am to be selling my beloved Jetta.
Details:
Year: 1990
Model: MK2 Jetta TX 1600cc
Transmission: 5 speed manual
Power Steering
Central Locking (broken but being fixed Wednesday)
Milage: 121400
MOT: 3.5.2015
Modifications:
JOM Coilovers all round
15x8 John Brown OS-2 Wheels in siver and gold. 4 x Nangkang tyres
Debadged front grille
Vinyled bonnet
Mintex discs and pads (front)
Selling only because I made an impulse buy on a E36 318iS coupe to have some RWD fun in and have no space/need for two cars.
Have owned the Jetta for two years. Bought it in a very sorry state off an old fella who just ran it around Leighton Buzzard (oxidised paint, filth everywhere, 4x4 ride height, old man smell etc) and have given it much TLC and quite a few £££ to get it in the state its in currently.
Its a VERY solid car. No rust other than a tiny bubble on the lower front door. Problem areas of arches and front window are fine. Had the garage service the car in November where the filters, oil and coolant were changed along with a new carb to inlet gasket fitted so its running sweeter than ever. Parts that have been replaced since my ownership inc plugs, leads, dizzy, brakes, cv boots, couple of wheel bearings and the oh so breakable door handles... Serviced the car every 10k miles.
The interior is in pretty good condition. No tears/rips in seats and no cracks in dash or door cards. Being light grey in colour there are the odd stains to the carpet and rear seats but these may come out with a steam clean.
The exterior... slightly different matter. As you can see in the pictures with a nice clean and some polishing it comes up REALLY well. Do not let the photos fool you though as there are issues. The roof has had a respray at some time and its not Tornado Red, it has scratches above/on the passenger C pillar, the top of the passenger door isnt as shiny, the front passenger wing has had some touching up, and if the vinyls are removed the bonnet will DEFINITELY need a respray. Its all straight and true with only a couple parking lot dings.
This car has never let me down, I took this car 3000 miles around Europe last summer to Monaco, Lake Como over the Swiss Alps to the Nurbugring and back and it did not miss a beat even when climbing 6000ft over the alps with a full car and 30ish degree temperatures. Testament to the solid drive train.
Only advisories on the last MOT were oil leak (I spilled some when doing a change) and cracked front plate.
Hopefully someone can take the Jetta to the next level with a engine swap and respray or just do as I've done and enjoy the lows and head turns.
Any Q's ill be happy to answer in the comments.
Mitch
