First up a huge apology for this being so late, serious real life things total took out January and we're only just getting back on track at RR HQ (which in happier real life things has moved to Somerset).
Anyway, in the words of Leeroy Jenkins : Lets do this!
I want to thank everyone that nominated in any category, whilst it is great to have winners/top three/whatever really this is to make sure we get to recognise the work and good times that people bring to our little scene, and a nomination is very much a recognition of that. Also a big thanks to bstardchild for helping pull the nominations and polls together this year.
First up we have Readers Other Mods 2014, this is one of my favourites in the awards each year as it always shows me stuff I've missed, and there is some amazing stuff in our ROM section
3rd : Seth – Diddy Engineering retrorides.proboards.com/thread/66976
2nd : benzine – Stanced Wheelbarrow retrorides.proboards.com/thread/158293
1st : coalnotdole – Admiralty Harbour Launch retrorides.proboards.com/thread/161058
So basically in size order then!
Next up Event of the Year 2014, it was great to see a diverse selection of events that really high light the varied interests of this here parish.
3rd : Le Mans Classic
2nd : VHRA Meet at Pendine Sands
1st : Goodwood Revival
Of course at least one event was excluded *cough*
Time for some Best Media 2014, I think the world of media has changed for us modified car folk, thus the change in this category, we consume magazines, youtube, websites and television on a pretty even level now and take different things from all of them. Everything nominated here is worth checking in on regularly.
3rd : Roadkill
2nd : Xbollox Tat Blog
1st : Project Binky
I suspect someone may have mobilised their fan base Which is to be encouraged.
Lets get some more RR related awards in. Starting a great thread can be a lot of hard work but can really have a big effect on a community, from people following in your footsteps or to help show other people what the community is about. I'm so massively proud of all the nominated threads and it is a wonder to me that the following three are on here. New Thread Of The Year
3rd : 1985-maserati-biturbo-1uzfe-transplant by grenade
2nd : Euro Road Trip by mwggriffiths
1st : Japanese series of awesome by Colonelk
So you just need to build a ludicrous luxury car engine transplant, or go traveling and take great pictures
Lets segue that into Community Member Of The Year formerly known as the KevFromWales award (does anyone know if he is okay?), this year has seen some really great work from community members of all sorts, from tech help to organising events and generally being great ambassadors for what we're all about here.
3rd : HARDCORE : retrorides.proboards.com/user/4134

1st : EmDee : retrorides.proboards.com/user/9859
Oh goodness, now that's only going to encourage him
Aha now we come to the kiss of death award or Most Anticipated Car 2015, let's see if the curse continues!

Diversity is the key there I guess... so many great builds in the nominations it is worth taking the time to check through them all.
Finally, the big one (sort of), Car Of The Year 2014. If you look at the nominations for this award over the years we started mainly with cars outside of RR, then cars that were mainly inside RR with a few outstanding outside builds taking the honours, and now we're in a world where we can have an almost entirely RR based nomination list and I'd happily stand them up against any cars out there. We're pretty damn awesome, high five us!

So there we have it... another brilliant year for Retro Rides, we've been at this for nearly 11 years and I still don't think our best years are behind us, there is so much more wonderful stuff ahead of us, I can't wait! This year Retro Rides Gathering returns to Shelsley Walsh so it'll be bigger and better than ever. We're adding Retro Kings to the show calendar at Snetterton in May. We've got our Summer Holiday in France in July. Come join us for this journey through the year it is going to be great fun.
If you are feeling fruity a number of people are getting together for burger, chips, tea and whatever else they fancy at Ace Cafe on 10th Feb (thats tomorrow night (sorry for short notice)) to stand around cars and chat about the stuff they plan to do this year... great things I believe... great things.
Thanks everyone,
-HoTWire
PS I am REALLY sorry about the lateness of this.
