Just a quick one , bought a new beetle on a 2000 plate and was wondering if it's a mans car or woman's car, bought it as it was cheap and tidy with a 2.0 engine and I must admit it's a good car , good room inside and aircon heated seats etc. Do people still modify them or not , I'm talking wheels etc. Put my mind at rest please lol

It's a car. It doesn't have gender. Unless you have a MASSIVE FLOWER on the dash. Personally, not a fan. But only because I've not seen one I like. And you could sleep on the dashboard. And it's a modern VW. Has potential though!

Perceived as a woman's car I think. I'd have one though, I think they're pretty funky, go for it, let's see some pics.

Cars aren't gender specific, it's typically the style applied to them that makes people perceive them a certain way because of gender stereotypes etc. Like many cars, the newer Beetles are cool when they're modified, but not so much in standard guise.

I had one, I always got funny looks in it (6ft skin head with beard lol) but was quite fun to drive. Only thing to watch out for on them are Beetle specific trim as it's blooming expensive to replace (£40 each for cupholders!) Can be made to look better, cheap coilvers as it's a MK4 Golf in drag.

For me its the Beetle RSI or nothing. But since they are very rare and reasonably expensive, it's nothing.

I think they are great cars, we've also got a 2.0 2000 and love it. They are thirsty though (20's round town) and they use a lot of oil 1ltr per 1000 miles is normal.
Evvo is a good owners forum, and there are alot of modified ones out there, although they are fairly formulaic.

There are a few easy ways to tell, primarily involving your reproductive organs, but I'm not an expert and am unsure you've posted this on the right forum. Best bet is to not worry too much, it's 2015 after all.
