Rebuilt injectors and 'recon' prechambers swap weekend is underway:
#1 looked ok, and they got progressively much worse as I worked to #6..
Broke my god dam home made precombustion chamber puller so I'm stuck at#2 at the moment until I find a local welder, wonder how much better it will run though.. 150k miles on stock everything, epic grey smoke even when hot from incomplete combustion, and lumpy AF when cold..

New fuel system design to delete the stock w210/606 design (elec heating element in the filter head instead of block coolant heater) From a DAF 7.5 tonner

Fitted thicker wall quality Codan brand leakdown pipes, turns out they are too thick and not malleable to seal on the injector barbs... Leaked.

Fitted Bosch/CAV heated remote fuel filter head, and 8mm lines all the way from tank to IP. Nice solution, ready for a big element IP now!

Aaaand the shut off valve delete mod has put it in limp..
Time for a custom écu then, at least it comes with a 'stage 1' chip +50hp&50lb-ft off the bat! (Stock écu measures fuel temp at the SOV, so goes limp when it's bypassed).
Wasn't expecting to have to shell out £250 this month on one but needs must.
Its in the post, exited for it..

what I found with most aftermarket leak off pipes is that they are too big, I can see yours are marked 3.2mm, which is 1/8"
oem stuff is 3mm, I needed some for my E34 last year but the dealer wanted £33 for a metre!! I went to Peugeot instead and paid £12.

Lumpy idle suspected caused by a bad IP plunger or DV, so I pulled it, just waiting for a known good one to arrive from eBay So that I don't have to cut the plug off each pump which is bad for resale value, I designed an interface loom using the stock w202's om605 EDC IP plug fitted onto the end of the chassis plug from the donor W210 E300TD's OM606, like so : Finished: Installed: Very neat IMHO. Also managed to finally get rid of that 15mm copper heater hose bodge... 1.5 bar release pressure banjo for fuel return (to raise pressure in the injection pump gallery) didn't fit as it was tyoo short so got my friend to make me a deep adapteriser: I do hope the new IP fixes the running issue, and that is works in general to be fair,, It was eBay's finest cheapest, but was removed from a known good engine.. Beers. HH

Yes, part number 1564 94, that'll get you a metre for less than a tenner.

Cut apart the manifold again and re-tacked it so it actually fits as per.. All pipes fitted much tighter to the block, especially #5&6 because of steering box clearance on RHD.

Electric fuel pump system is coming along nicely Fitting the AN6 braid into the fittings is much easier with axle grease!#

It may not be the prettiest old Mercedes by any stretch of the imagination, but after cutting our all the rust and welding in new metal and thoroughly corrosion protecting it, and replacing every bush, balljoint, sundry, fluid and filter, then replacing, upgrading or otherwise servicing every brake, suspension, steering, transmission and engine aspect, it should be good for another 150k miles before a rebuild again? (question mark of hope). It should make for a good daily, and after calculating an actual economy of 35mpg average is not bad for a 3.0 I6 with automatic transmission.. I do like my rides to look good though, hence the latest addition of a C43 AMG rear bumper, I was actually looking for a good stocker in the right colour but I found this one for 60 quid and in the words of Jack Sparrow: Couldn't resist mate.. Though I did have to get it painted lol. I think I'll try and figure out some AMG-looking stainless tips for the cut out also So all-in-all it's quite nice IMHO. Oh and there's the turbo compound Holset manifold I'm working on, that will give it some more beans..
