	Hey I'm having a lot of trouble with the tax refund on a citroen I sold Jan 17th. I sold it to a bloke for £140 as the clutch cable went, didn't have time to sort it. The log book hadn't arrived when I sold it so I sent off a form to get tax back and he applied for a v62. Fast forward to yesterday and the garage I bought it from messaged me asking for my address because dvla contacted them saying someone applied for log book etc. Today I received a letter and DVLA have told me I cant get a refund because I'm not the registered keeper and gave me a v62 form and said I need to apply (fee applicable). Managed to contact the bloke who I sold it to and he has since sold it on for spares. So no idea where the car is now or who owns it?! So basically I got a years tax in October so I'm owed probably £160 or more in a tax refund, which is more than I sold the car for so I'm a little annoyed. I don't want the V5 issued to me as I'm not the keeper etc and for all I know he could be driving it around illegally and I could get done for it! Where do I stand? Jack

	If you got the car in October and you sold it in January that is plenty of time for the v5 to arrive, you can chase after after 6 weeks which is what you shoujd of done To be fair I wouldnt of purchased it from you with out a v5, I very much doubt that you will get anything from the dvla As under there present legislation they will only refund to the registered keeper and as it looks like that tge traded you got the car from didn't send the v5 off you arnt the keeper

	Hi, unfortunately I think you can kiss the tax refund goodbye, Unless you get the logbook in your name. I can understand why not because you don't know the situation of the car. So I think all you can do is do what the garage has done to you and give DVLA the details of the bloke you sold the car to. Colin

	Exactly, that's what all the letters from the DVLA are about.

	What the above said. It does suck unfortunately, but due to a similar experience years ago I do chase down the DVLA for many things these days once the time period lapses.

	Same thing just happened to me, bought a car to sell on, (used trade portion of the v5). Taxed the car (year's, so no surcharge) so that it could be parked on the road etc or test driven. Sold it a week later, sent off V5, dvla saying not received it, have proof of posting but not registered mail) so they want me to give them £25 for a new log book, register it to me first , wait for new log book, send it off again with new keeper, and i bet they wont refund the tax i;ve been paying while this is going on. They wouldn't have even refunded me if they had received the V5 by the looks of it. SURELY they should refund whoever the card payment was sent from in the first place? THey're going the right way if they want to discourage people from BUYING TAX.
