See how I try to entertain you guys? I have spent all saturday wandering the streets of Bucharest to bring you some highlights. Check these out: Nice old 4-door Ascona They don't have any ascona 400 kits over here. This is used for 'ornamental' duties outside a posh bar A rare machine indeed!!! Gutted! it says 'DOHC' on the bootlid. For sale at a rather optimistic 1400 euros. I havent the faintest idea what this is. This has a very serious looking sticker in the rear window ordering you in no uncertain terms to 'VISIT ROMANIA'. Abandoned. Looks mint too! Cool!!! Someone's daily hack Ace chrome hubcaps. How did that get here? This was parked 2 cars behind the maserati. QUALITY. Worthy of a second pic I think. Not seen one of these for a while. remember the 2-door coupe job? Obv a fan of stuttgart metal Moskvich. Check out the sparrow showing its on the front numberplate! Cool. 2-door rekord! Good nick too!! Romanian Renault 12 'hatchback'. This has got problems!!! Fine german line-up T-cut is in short supply over here. This was parked under a bush for safe keeping. Someone's company car!!! And last but not least, Seems to have all its original features intact.

Great pics Mr.B! That's my kind of tourism (no, really!). It seems the AE86 doesn't have quite the same value/following over there! I take it you've become immune to those Dacia/Renault 12s...there's about 3 in every shot! That two-door Visa (Oltcit Axel?) behind the Honda looks really cool. What about that seriously armoured Land Rover? That little blue 4x4 has a DKW Munga look about it? Great pics!

Yeah those Reno 12's are the most disgusting chariots i have ever encountered. They truly have no redeeming features. Ugly as hell, appalling handling, rough engines, and they are not even a tough car. They are just sh*t. There are also loads of Daewoos in romania cos there is a Daewoo factory here, when you travel in a Daewoo it is like warp-speed space travel after a Dacia! Jesus Christ they are good. The one thats based on a Vauxhall Belmont is called a Daewoo Cielo, although it used to be called a Daewoo Racer!
The Citroen Axel is quite interesting, it looks like a 2-door Visa, but it has a GS aircooled flat four 1100 or 1200 cc engine. I think they made them (with carburettors!) up to 1995.

Those are some really interesting pictures, thanks and well done! That Volga is well nice! Now there's a company car! The little blue 4x4 is a LUAZ, not to be confused with a UAZ, another Soviet 4x4. I would have said that the Moskvitch was actually an IZH 412, instead of a Mosky 412, which is pretty much the same but just a little different, is it badged as a Moskvitch, I could be wrong?

Hmm, I just assumed it was a Moskvich. It has a mega cool 'Kombi' badge on the boot with some back-to-front letters though...

Hey Revolution number nine, I checked that yellow 'Moskvich' when tottering back from the pub tonight, it is indeed wearing a funny little blue 'IZH' badge on the grille.
Respect.

If you're talking about the silver Toyota coupe.... looks to me more like a TE71, younger brother of the AE86 powered by a 2T-GEU twin cam 1600.... strangely though, that one has rear drums whereas the TE71 had a disc rear end (the same discs as an AE86 even).... maybe a KE71.... or even an AE71 if it used a 3A-U or a 4A-U engine Either way I am mad keen on a TE71 and they still go for relatively cheap prices...... Personally I like the Mazda 616 coupe... quite a rare car, most of the ones round NZ have been converted to rotary so it'd be great to have an original piston-powered version as a keepsake!
