The time has come to part with my classic Porsche 944
I bought this Porsche as a summer car and a bit of fun. It’s been dry stored throughout the winter whilst I did some little jobs to it.
Unfortunately with a change in circumstance and a busy work schedule ive barely used this vehicle, I’ve covered about 300 miles this summer, and it’s a shame to have it sitting, not being used
This vehicle was registered MAY 1982, the same year as production started and from other clubs, Porsche forums its one of the earliest 944’s I’ve seen.
It’s the original square dash model, with “PORSCHE” in scripted door cards, removable sunroof and cookie cutter alloy wheels.
Finished in white, the bodywork is in pretty good condition for a 32 year old car. The sills are solid and have recently been repainted and stone guarded. 1 tiny rust bubble near the front headlight, and a tiny bit around the aerial.
There is some service history with the vehicle. Belt changed in 2010.
Serviced and MOT’d in April 2014 with no advisories
Starts and drives beautifully, pulls nicely through all the gears
Handling is simply superb, near on 50/50 weight distribution, a real country road car
Good tyres all round
Shes got 2 keys, original leather handbook wallet, drivers manual, service map, vinyl sunroof bag.
Appreciating classic, still pulls and drives lovely. A proper drivers car with superb handling. I will really miss this vehicle.
Cheap classic car insurance. I pay around £120 a year with 3,000 miles.
Bad Points.
The windscreen is suffering from some delamination around the corners as you can see. This never bothered me as it was just a fair weather weekend car. I was quoted approx £145 to have a new screen fitted.
The drainage pipe in the roof leaks slightly. Again.. Only using this car on nice sunny days this never bothered me. Although where its leaked it had destroyed the roof lining. I do have a second hand original vinyl roof lining to include in the sale, it just needs fitting.
Driver’s side passenger window switch doesn’t work, but the window does work off the passenger switch. And the heater control is temperamental. It works very occasionally. I was going to strip it out and look at the wiring this winter, but she’s got to go
The steering wheel has been changed to a leather MOMO wheel; however I still have the original 3 spoke steering wheel to include.
Looking to sell or px up/down with cash going either way. Interested in many vehicles especially other classics, Mini's, Beetles/Buggys, 80's/90's J cars, Dub VW's etc so throw something at me,i can only say no. Don't mind a small project but nothing major. I'm only 25 so nothing too hefty on the engine size/insurance. i already have two "sensible" road cars, so something fun, different, silly etc
