I've got my 328i on eBay at the moment so thought I better stick it here as well in case anyone is interested.
1998 BMW 328i Auto Coupe
I bought this just before Christmas with the intention of using the engine to go in my other BMW. I bought the car unseen as I wasn't bothered about the condition of it. However once it arrived I realised it was too good to use as a parts car so now it's up for sale.
The car has done 129,000 miles and I have a few receipts for bits and bobs that have been done to it. It has MOT until December 2015 but obviously no Tax.
The car starts first time without any problems and idles perfectly. The engine does sound a little tappy when you first start it however it calms down once you have been driving for a little bit. I thought the noise was coming from the Vanos unit however after some investigation it turns out one of the tappets is a bit sticky, hence the noise going away after a while. This doesn't make any difference to the way the car drives and to be honest you can barely hear it from inside the car anyway! The automatic gearbox does exactly what it's supposed to without any issues. When I bought the car the battery was knackered so I have fitted a brand new Bosch battery that has a 3 year warranty. I have also fitted a set of rear brake pads as they had no life left in them.
The cars bodywork is in very good condition considering the car is now 16 years old. With a quick clean the black paintwork shines up very nicely. There are a couple of stone chips on the bonnet edge and a couple just above the windscreen. The rest of the car has some general small scratches around it, however nothing out of the ordinary for a car of this age. There is absolutely no rust on this car that I (or the MOT tester) can find.
The interior is again in good condition with a tan coloured leather interior. The seats are manual but both are working perfectly with regard to adjustments and folding etc. The front seats would benefit from a bit of leather cleaner to bring them back to their best, however they're not filthy either. The rear seats don't look they have had much use at all, as you can see in the picture. The headlining is starting to droop slightly towards the rear of the car, but a bit of headlining spray would soon sort that out.

Now unfortunately there are a couple of things that need to be fixed on this car to have it back to its best. On the way home from the MOT I accelerated hard up the road only to hear a nasty clonk from the rear and the ABS light popped up on the dash! I jacked the car up when I got home and it would seem the o/s/r wheel bearing has started to break up which in turn has confused the ABS system (the ABS ring is built into the wheel bearing on the rear). So once the wheel bearing gets replaced the ABS light should switch straight off again (after a little drive of course). The only other negative point about the car is that the steering column is a bit noisy. It's a very common problem on E36 BMW's and requires part of the steering column greasing to get rid of the noise. My other BMW did the same thing and after spraying a bit of grease around, sorted everything out.
The car is located in Epsom, Surrey, KT19 and is available for viewings Monday - Friday after 6pm or any time on the weekends.
