For sale is my 1995 1.8 mk1 Mazda MX5 running Jenvey individual throttle bodies (ITB). As far as I am aware it is the only road worthy ITB’d mk1 mx5 for sale in the UK at the moment. I have owned a couple of mk1 mx5s now and this one is by far the best, it is in very good condition. Other than a small surface rust patch (in the pictures) the bodywork is in great condition. It is obvious that the previous owner bought the best, low mileage shell they could find.
The car has comprehensive service history up to 77k and I have since changed the oil, filters, plugs etc myself at 85k and 89k and is currently sitting on 90k. There has really been no expense spared with this car, particularly with the last owner. There are two folders full of receipts, initial purchase bill, MOTs, servicing etc. It is currently MOT’d (which it past with no advisories) until April.
The car went to reputable MX5 specialist 5-speed for a roll-in roll-out Jenvey ITB conversion. The receipt for this, including a lightened flywheel, was nearly £4k! The car is using an Adaptronic standalone ECU, which is completely tuneable. It has a full system stainless steel exhaust including a de-cat and HKS 4-2-1 headers. It is significantly quicker than standard but more importantly the noise is on another planet.
The interior has also received some nice, tasteful upgrades and is in very good condition. It now has leather mk2 seats, a reupholstered Nardi steering wheel, retro style pull handles and a cabin brace bar. They are small touches but really help to bring out the classic car feel.
A lot of the common mk1 MX5 problems have already been sorted on this car. The vinyl roof is in very good condition and doesn’t leak. It also has a heated, glass screen which is quite rare. Both electric windows work perfectly.

The paintwork is not perfect, a few stone chips, basically what you would expect from a car that’s 20 years old.
Auxiliary belt squeals on start up (belt has been changed but squeal still persists).
There is a knack to starting it in cold weather but has never failed to do so.
You can’t receive radio through the stereo, never bothered me though as the ITBs provide everything you will want to listen to.
Although it kills me to sell this, as I don’t think I will ever find another MX5 like it, I will be getting a company car soon so need the space. The car is available for viewing most evenings/lunch times/weekends. I have probably missed a few things out so please feel free to ask any questions you may have.
