How do you work this multimeter please. Basically all I want it for is to test my car battery and the hundreds of loose AA batteries Iv got lying about the house Is the RED and BLACK cables in the right places? Where should the dial be set? Iv tried you tube tutorials but I'm still confused. Hope you can help. Thanks in advanc

Hi there, That's a nice piece of kit you've got there! Here are the instructions: www.china-victor.com/Files/Download/vc9804a+_manual.docFrom the instructions, it looks like you've got the leads in the right locations. You just need to turn the dial round to the appropriate "DCV" value.

The connectors look in the right place - same as mine when I am testing batteries.
Use the DC voltage setting on the dial. Turn it to 20v to test car batteries - should read about 12.8v at rest if it's healthy.
Set it to 2v for checking AA batteries.
I can't read the display in the photo - it looks like it's currently (no joke intended) set to AC (or is that just my grotty eyesight?)
