Had a quick thread on this before combined with the Shuttle but now the fate of that is determined it's time to properly advertise the Escort for sale.
Basic Info:
1976 Mk2 Escort, it's the 1100l model in green with cream/light tan interior, 4-speed manual box. Not perfect but 100% original, with some factory options like the wing-mounted mirrors. 15+ years worth of receipts/old MoT's/etc. Mileage is 97,500 iirc but I'll double check. Last MoT'd early 2014, currently no MoT (reason why is below). Right-hand drive UK car.
More:
As with some Escorts, structural welding necessary. When I bought it many moons ago the first thing I did was take the carpet out (and bin it because it was truly disgusting) to get a good look and access to the floor, and there was rust and rot aplenty on the passenger's side footwell. Driver's side footwell is smooth and solid. Engine bay required some welding which has been done.
Body is straight and solid all over minus a patch just behind the driver's side rear arch. A small part has already been done below the front bumper that I'll smooth off and paint any day now.
Electronics are hit and miss. Headlights, taillights, indicators etc work. It's got a rear fog light but it doesn't work. That's about it, they're very basic.
Tires are all good condition, suspension is spot on, brakes work and are in good condition, but are questionable by modern standards.
Was a flawless runner when I bought it and throughout all of 2014 (I took it out twice a week every week), booked it in for an MoT early January to get it on the road as a Birthday present to myself but it just wouldn't start. I spent a solid 2-3 hours getting it all ready on the day and I did have it running nicely until it refused to start up again. There's a video of it running since I was updating it live on ig that day (in the hope it would all go to plan).. Could be something simple, I'll have another crack at it when other stuff is out the way.
Etc:
Any questions feel free to ask, it's a lovely old thing and there really aren't many unmolested examples around.
Located in Bedfordshire, price is £2,499 ono.
(Pictures of interior, engine bay and boot to follow)
