I'm going JDM tuner style with my '78 mazda pickup, but I cant find anything interesting online, mostly cos I don't know what to look for or where to look. (language/symbol barrier is a big problem)
I want somewhere I can browse pics from the J shows, especially if they have lots of 70s/80s pickups in em!! ;D
surely a webshite like that does exist?

Easiest way to start is : www.google.co.uk/language_tools?hl=enand a links page from a known Japanese site... our friend Double Clutch has a bunch of links on the right hand side of his blog : www.double-clutch.netThen you just needs to spend hours and hours and hours working through pages towards what you want, in fact its almost easier without google translate, just click on every single link on a page. Then when you've spent the best part of your day searching all these sites for interesting content, come back here and post up the 4 or 5 pictures that have inspired you. Repeat for the German, Swedish, South American, Malaysian and Middle Eastern scene for true RR points Good luck

These are trade secrets you know. A good way is to go to Yahoo Auctions, or better still, go to a translated version and find a car like yours in the listing. Once you get there, get the model name in Japanese, or a few choice words from the listing - then paste them into www.google.co.jp. Then follow the links. Another good way is to find/know the name of some relevant show, like the Truck Masters. A lot of the mini-trucks like yours are built US-style though - I assume you're after the racer-style, like the Sunnys? This one is a good mix of the two styles - larger body, but with a chin spoiler, Hayashis and some rear neg: Try here for Truck Masters reports: www.bluepanic.jp/truck.htm

And no, there are no old school J rims for sale here. Ebay USA has loads of cool JDM rims for sale - often from sellers in Hawaii. A few: Charlie

Find the model code, e.g. "KP61" Starlet or "KE70" Corolla, type it in followed by "jp". Job done! As an example, the Google Image Search for "KP61 jp" returns: And also the bonus of SL's spitting image:

And also the bonus of SL's spitting image: Hey, even beige too! I can turn my head slightly and see one for real, about to chuck some stickers on it but not like that...

It also shows off the blacked out pillars look you were considering - my thoughts are "go for it".
