just been looking back over some old threads and this got me thinking.can you put MOON discs on modern cars..does anyone have pictures of modern cars running MOON discs?

err, no! I'm completely slack and although I think I want them on there, I'm not mechanically minded enough or competent to fit them ;D An example of why I shouldn't be allowed spanners/tools: I got a new bonnet from the scrapyard for it on Saturday. I'm going to do something "creative" with it and wanted to do it to a spare in case I wreck it... So I take the old bonnet off, bolt the new one on, close it to check the gap is OK etc... ...and it won't open again. An hour of swearing, pushing, pulling got me nowhere... An assistant pulled the lever etc, no joy. I cut out the grille section of the bumper with a hacksaw to let me get better access at the mechanism, still no joy. So a day or so later, I take it to a friend who is a bodyshop guy, he gets me to pull the lever and he opens it straight away. ARGH ;D It's all sorted now, but episodes like that are why I'll be sticking with paint/stickers/tape to alter the appearance ;D Oh, here's the bonnet:   ;D I need to fashion a grille for it now too, I don't want a stone in the radiator, it's got enough Radweld in there as it is! |

I want them on the Corsa, just got to find someone to fit them! Drilling into the wheel for self tappers etc SOUNDS straight-forward enough, but for a mechanical-moron like me, it's a whole can of nightmares waiting to be unleashed, leaving me with no transport to work the following day ;D One of the things I love most about this place is how the people that can "do" things make it look so easy - "oh yeah so then I welded this up/fabricated that/rebuilt the other" etc... I just look on with complete awe  |

where did you get them form, s/h purchase? nowhere I talk to still does 13", all discontinued They were donated to the cause, secondhand, unprompted (thankyou  ) , but I had to wait nearly a year for them cos they sat in the back of Chez's Rodent Bus until I saw him to pick them up! |

drilling a bead-wall is'nt so hard,as long as you keep in mind the over lap of the tyre on the rim.place your disc on the wheel you want to fit it to and make sure you have enough rim wall proud of where the tyre meets the rim and where you'll need to aline the fixing holes.

Alternatively, if you're worried about drilling your wheels, get a set of cheap/free 13" plastic hub caps and screw the moon discs to them. It won't matter if you mess up a couple of times and then you can just push fit them on to the wheel as per a normal cap. The plastic cap might need trimming round the edge so it doesn't stick out further than the cap. They won't quite be as flush as if they were screwed straight on to the wheel but might be an easier, less worrysome method for you A recent example of the hub cap method  |
