So, I need a bit of inspiration. It'll soon be time to make some interior choices for my mk2 polo, as the big stuff is all done. The car is a 1990 but it's got a definite 80's feel to it, here's how it was sitting pre-rebuild (it'll be similar but with a Golf splitter, and more lows) I'm struggling to think of which seats would suit it. It has a genuine Grant 13" steering wheel, and will at some point get some new black carpet and door cards. VW did some pretty cool seats at the time, with the profile/shape shared across a few models; Those are cool but I want something a bit more special, and that's where I'm stuck; I'm not really clued up in 70's/80's style bucket seats. An idea I had the other day was a pair of these; With the inserts retrimmed in this; Or maybe a red tartan, not too sure. So, any ideas on some other options? Haven't got thousands to spend, but I want something nice! Thanks

How about some suitably trimmed Porsche 924/944 seats...?! They could look very good indeed...!!!

Personaly buckets Don't look right it nearly stock road cars.. my choice would be get the seats re-trimmed..but add more padding memory foam?? .heated inser??massage insert??etch.. keep them stock but add some luxury. .. Everyone puts buckets in bit know one would expect heated massaging seats.

924/944 seats are a good call! I freind of mine has a 944 in bits, so I might be able to pinch the seats for a test-fit. I like the idea of some leaner reactors from a mk3 GTI, it definitely would be nice to have something comfy! As for the buckets, the car won't be very standard on the inside; I'm currently making a billet shifter, and it will also have a body coloured cage (still a maybe). Thanks for the great ideas guys, keep them coming

They're really nice, if I still had my mini I'd get a pair. I think they're a bit too 60's for my polo though, although the same place has these; m.ebay.co.uk/itm/201024563142?nav=SEARCHWhich I reckon would look awesome with tartan inserts. The cloth looks a bit more 80's than shiny vinyl.

I was just going to say - get the omp centres trimmed in VW Tartan & your winning. Scrolled down and that was what you thought, so yeah - do that lol I would go for the MKV Golf GTI tartan, but I'm biased as that's what my MKV GTI came with lol.

They really are lovely cars those Golfs, a mate of mine just got a 2014 Polo GTI and its the nicest new car I've been in. It's got tartan too Looks like classic buckets with a tartan retrim is no.1 so far!

Everyone puts buckets in bit know one would expect heated massaging seats. I have to agree. Buckets look out of place if there's still a rear bench and things. Especially fixed back seats. If you're going for buckets you need harnesses to pull it off. And have you even been in a car with bucket seats and norm seat belts? They don't feel safe. Like you could be flung out of them If you're going for a race car feel, go for it. Otherwise Tombstones or MX5 seats would be cool. Or go all out and get some crazy lambo ones

i've got the mk2 rocco seats with the matching mk2f genesis rear seats in two of mine, the best combo for looks i've had is the black ranger seats with black/white tartan centres, still got the seats but they need a repair to drivers bolster now
i've got a couple of sets of porsche front seats tucked away but they'll probably go in the mk2 polo van and my mk1 caddy, eventually

If go with those and still fancy going ultra-80's you can always re-trim them in some Porsche Pasha print...?!?!?!

My only worry is that they'll look a bit big in a polo
