Any way it could be split out without it becoming too separated? I.e pure build and historic progress reports in one thread and history of hot rods in another?
It possibly could be, although the way it is written in places it is quite intertwined.
In terms of the build thread I take it your notes have original dates so you could pace it out in the equivalent rate just xx years further on? I.e your progress from 21.06.94 could be posted on or thereabouts on 21.06.18.
The notes themselves don't have dates really, although the photos do, so I could possibly date it from there.
Is it stored electronically, or hard-copy only? I'd hate to think of you typing it out for us, I won't feel as bad if you're able to cut and paste your way through!
For the most part what is written is handwritten in my very own 'I dipped a spider into an inkpot and let it wander all over the page' style handwriting!
IT'S NOT SO OLD THAT IT'S ON A FLOPPY, IS IT?
Ha ha, of course not... It's on a Zip disc!
You (or at least your posts and writing style) were missed...
Agreed - looking forward to an update. Nice build on the flats btw. Nice to see you have good taste in Builders Merchants too....
You write how you like, I'll read it!
Yep, not a commenter more of a liker, but very much enjoy reading your posts....
That's what I love about your writing PP, you have such eclectic taste there is a bit for everyone! And your writing is excellent
I look forward to reading it, whatever length, and one thing I like about what you write is that you go into way too much detail and history and "where did this idea even originate anyway" which is something I do too (with my car thread and everything else), so don't change that - a veritable tome is fine by me.
Thanks chaps, it's good to know you enjoy what I babble on about!
Hope to finally meet you at CC meet next Month? I'll be permamntly situated at the ice cream stand!
I shall keep an eye out for you. I think I shall be attending, but not necessarily in the Celeste. If you could get yourself a badge like this...
That would be a BIG help!
I’m away for most of the weekend, so you may not get a like until the end of the weekend
I'll be looking out for a 'like' or so from you early next week! Enjoy your weekend!
On another note, hoping to attend simply Japanese so might see you there!
Again...
Having a badge like this will help! I shall keep an eye out for you!
Now then, how am I going to do this? Well, apart from buying a car every month last year, building the flats, and looking after the Pistonpoppets over the last year I have been doing a few other things. I have still been writing about my cars, just not here. Instead I started my own little blog, here...
The picture is a link if you want to click it, it will take you there! I know that some of you guys have already discovered it, and are hopefully enjoying it. But I'm guessing that some of you good folks are wondering why I've done such a thing. Why would I leave the forum and head off on my own? Well the answer is pretty simple, about a year ago I felt like @automatik, that there seemed to not be much going on here, and I felt like this forum was starting to get a bit quiet. Over the years I have been a member on various different forums, and farcebook groups, and have written various different threads. Of course as time goes on people change, and move on, and the forums go quiet, and eventually some become dormant, and occasionally disappear altogether, along with what ever babble I and other people have written. For example some time ago, long before I was a member here I wrote a little thread about my love affair with a Renault Twingo on a forum for French cars, can I find it now? No, I can't even find the forum it was written on. So I decided to document my car fun on my own blog instead, that way hopefully if I ever get to the point where I'm sat in an old folks home dribbling into my Cornflakes in the morning I will still be able to read my pointless views about what I thought about some car that I had when I was younger. I guess in a way I'm sort of future-profing myself, and my memories. Unlike @automatik however I'm not going to abandon the forum, because I think that by doing that I will only add to the possible decline of the community. This is a good forum, with loads of good, interesting, and helpful members like you guys, and in order for it to live, thrive, and survive, we all need to feed it, and I for one intend to keep posting stuff here.
As much as the forum needs you, I need you too. I need you to read my posts on my blog, therefore this is how I intend to update this little thread of babble from here on in. What I thought that I would do is whenever I do an update on my blog, I shall do a little post here, with a photo, and a link for you to click to the post on my blog. Hopefully you will be happy to click the link, to continue to follow the madness. (I've got everything crossed!) I can't promise you fantastic photos, or amazing story telling, or that you will even learn anything, but hopefully you will get five minutes of entertainment while you eat your lunch or something. I very much doubt that I'll ever make a living from my blog. I have heard that people do, and indeed make a good living at it, but I'm guessing that those people are very few and far between. My feeling is that they take brilliant photos, and write wonderfully, that's not my way, so doing it for a living probably won't happen! But hopefully while I'm working away at my proper job (whatever that might be after the flats are completely done) I'll continue to be able to write something that is interesting and entertaining in my spare time for you to read in yours.
One more thing before I start posting links to some updates. If you do like my blog, and are happy to read it, please share the love! For me, one of the things that I find quite interesting about writing it is where it is being read. I quite often check the statistics to see whats going on...
See the bit where it says Followers... 0 It would be great if there was a number there!
I don't know why, but I do find the statistics quite interesting. Anyway, as you can see in the last month between 23 May 2018 – 21 Jun 2018 my little blog was viewed 1,389 times from people all over the world. If you were one of those people, thankyou for checking in, if you weren't one of those people, come and have a look, see what you think.
Ok, enough canvassing for new readers, or even followers, lets get linking some pictures and stories for you folks to read. I think I'll make three seperate posts, I'm going to start from pretty much where I left off here. I'll start with the cars that you know, and have since been sold, then the second post will be the cars you know and I still have, and finally the third post will be the stuff you havn't seen. I hope this makes sense. I'm not going to start from the beginning of my blog becasue in the beginning I started by re-hashing, and re-writing stuff I had written here, so If you've been following since I started here, you'll already know it, but if you want to re-read it, well, you just read back through the older posts. I'm also not going to post the show reports here, as I already do that elsewhere, but again, they're there if you want to look. Lastly, if you happen to also be into bicycles, I write another blog called
Klunkerz Hopefully that is interesting too, although very very few people have looked at that one.
So then... Get your pot of Tea or Coffee out, and maybe grab your biscuit tin, or maybe even a cake! Here come the updates...
