Up for sale here is my 1981 Mitsubishi L300 campervan. I purchased this last year with the intention of numerous camping trips away this year, but my circumstances have changed. As such I’ve decided to concentrate on building my 1963 Estafette camper instead. It seems a shame for the Pioneer to sit on the driveway not getting used so I'm offering it up to a new loving home.
GENERAL
The van itself is a 1981 Mitsubishi L300, professionally fitted from new with a Pioneer Coachbuilt camper conversion. The van has covered approximately 96000 miles (estimate as the odometer stopped working last year, speedo still works fine though). It has MOT until the end of May 2015 (no issues last MOT). Currently SORN for winter, but obviously will not come with tax anyway due to the Government rules.
MECHANICAL
The van has a 1.6 litre petrol engine and 4 speed gearbox with column shift. The van has been serviced within the last 10000 miles, including cambelt. It drives great in my opinion, and I've had no issues in my ownership. Only thing I'd say is don't go expecting to win any races! Sits comfortably at 50mph, but due to size and weight it's not going to cruise at 70mph all day Everything works as it should to the best of my knowledge.
EXTERIOR
The van is 33 years old, so the bodywork isn't perfect, but equally it could be a lot worse for its age. Various dinks and dents in the body, but nothing majorly concerning. A previous owner has been a bit overzealous with the sealant, but on the plus side it does mean the van has no leaks. Privacy glass fitted to rear. Has a set of 17" Oz Racing wheels fitted with good tyres all round (225/45/17 up front, 265/40/17s out back). Gives it a much better look than the standard wheels in my opinion. One of the rear side windows is cloudy, so could ideally do with replacing, but never bothered me.
INTERIOR
This is where the van really comes into its own! Despite it's relatively small appearance outside, it seems absolutely massive inside. Up front is a fetching brown basketweave triple seat (rip in drivers seat). Realistically someone could sleep across here if you wanted to make it a five birth. Above this is a double bunk. Easily sleeps two (even if you are six foot). Behind this there is the door in and opposite a bathroom with shower, toilet and sink! Cold water only, but I'm sure you could heat the water first if so desired. Next to the main door is the kitchen unit with sink, triple hob, and grill above (all working), cupboard and fridge below (fridge untested). Opposite this is the oven. Sink, triple hob and oven! You could bust out a roast dinner in this thing!!! Below the oven is a wardrobe. Carry on further back and you reach the dining/sitting area. Ideal for eating that roast you just cooked, or sitting around with the family relaxing. The table drops down to convert this into another double bed. Plenty of storage above for all your needs. The van has a 240V hook up (though we've never used it), and the lighting and water pump is 12V running off a leisure battery.
Van is located in Minster (ME12 postcode) in Kent. Viewing welcome and recommended. It owes me £2800 as it stands, so that’s what I’m asking. Would entertain a p/x on small cheap car (e.g smart car/, lupo etc), but cash sale preferred.
