Hi all,
The time has come to pass my G-Wagon on and let somebody else enjoy it.
It's been built by a classic car restorer who made a sterling job, including fitting a modern Merc 6cyl OM606 3.0L turbo diesel engine and 6 speed box, plus it's had a full body restoration so there's not a spot of rust on it!
It's had a raft of mods which makes it the ultimate off road/on road truck, whilst still maintaining 30mpg which makes for cheap motoring when you run it on Veggie oil.

1985 Mercedes G Wagon W460.
1998 OM606 3.0TD 6 Cylinder E-Class engine with 250+bhp
6 speed manual E-Class gearbox
Front, rear and centre locking diffs
Extremely low range gearbox
Ceramic paddle clutch with new dual-mass flywheel
Spring-to-centre steering damper
Hybrid K26/K27 turbo
Alloy front mount intercooler
Allow radiator
Remapped ECU with original diagnostic port in glove box
3'' straight through exhaust (stainless steel)
Koni uprated shocks
Roll bars removed
Recaro seats
Full internal roll cage
12000lb winch (works on front and rear)
Recent respray and restoration
Brand new 235/85/16 recip trials tyres
Top speed over 100mph
New glow plugs (NGK)
Fully synthetic engine oil just changed
Freshly rebuilt rear diff
Electric radiator fan
4-pot callipers
Second radiator in rear with electric pump (not yet plumbed in)
Uses original E-class fuel pump and immobiliser with original slot in Mercedes keyfob
Fuel heater on inlet manifold for running on vegetable oil

Love the truck, I'm sure it'll go to a good home. The reason your eBay ad was removed was because of keyword spamming in the title "(not Defender)". eBay really don't like it, as its seen as 'invading' people search results with cars they are not searching for. |

You're probably right - I was working on the premise that people who are interested in Defenders should be just as (if not more) interested in the G-Wagon. Not many people know about them or realise that they are 10x stronger and more capable than any defender.
Ebay was FULL of timewasters anyway. I must have had 20 calls offering 'this and that', none of which came to fruition.

Quite tempted with the idea of an OM606 conversion in my 280GE. Who did it for you? The conversion was done by the previous owner - I've just improved it. Since owning it I've put all new glow plugs in it, leak off pipes, new injector nozzle, new sump, polybush bushes etc. It runs like a dream and I'd highly recommend an OM606 to anyone. It's an animal and has power all the way to 6500rpm. It's got to be seen to be believed to be honest. And the noise is fantastic! Forget your landy V8's - this thing screams and the boost noise is incredible as it whistles through the snorkel!  |

Now has flared wheel arches to keep it legal.
