I used to have one of those pela oil pumps it was great until the black base fell off and curseworded oil everywhere, I thought it was me the first time then it did it every time. Now I use the hose for the pela (that fits down the dipstick tube) with one of those cheap track pumps you get for paddling pools and inflatable boats. You just swap the hoses round to pump the oil in and out - works perfect.

Interesting to see the cars you have been through. It's a shame you got rid of the 156 JTD. I had fond memories of my 147 JTD. Alot of the creaks were probably down to cheap upper arm bushes being fitted IME ; Yup, I had been there and learned that. I learned that genuine or poly bushing solved that 2 arms later. The boost pipes are a consumable on them unless you go with silicone items ; that was about the best thing I ever did to my 147 ; zero smoke from the tailpipe once I changed both and the MPG went up nicely. I'm surprised at how well it went for a 115BHP 8v. I guess it may have been remapped in hindsight but it still felt quick compared to my 106 GTi which was no slouch . The E36s IMO are a nice drive in a similar configuration to yours ; I personally hated the manual 'box in my 323i. Sorry true drivers... What MPG are you achieving out of the 320i?

The Alfa was really rough tbh, only saved by its engine and back road Prowess. If I bgetb one again it'll need to be non squeeking. The e36 is an OK steer, if dog slow and not as lairy as an e30. Last 2000 miles and one month has resulted in average mpg of 32.5..
