Model:Talbot Matra Murena
Year:1983
Mileage:not sure
MOT:No
Pics:below
Location:Scarborough
Price:1200 ovno or swap (see below)
I recently purchased this rare car to restore but have found more work than I have time for. This is a spares or quite long term repair project car. On the positive, the car has:
Rebuilt front suspension (new balljoints (which were difficult to do!), arb links, tie rod ends, suspension etc) - see pics
2.2 engine with period dellorto twin carburettors
Very good interior
Correct s spec skirts and nose and rear spoiler
Very good alloys and excellent tyres
Windscreen is not damaged, neither are the expensive to replace wing mirrors
Rear lights undamaged
Rear trailing arms are sound some surface rust but not holed at all. Good useable condition
Good paintwork and no obvious damage to the columbian blue body
Replacement steering lock and key (original one had seized)
On the negative
Rot in the rear of the sills and around the mounting points for the trailing arms (solid as you lift on it but very untidy)
Some higher rot in top of rear wheel arches
Electrics probably will need looking at given an 80s alarm is fitted plus usual issues of a car laid up for a long time.
The only part I am aware is missing is the vacuum actuator for the headlights - I was going to retro fit a Porsche headlight motor to eliminate the need for this part and the troublesome vacuum feed it needs from the engine.
It IS a project or break. I would do the latter but lack time.
To do the repair job properly would require the removal of the rear wings (all polyester resin and which are glued/riveted to the car chassis frame) - which is doable, but takes more time than I really can afford.
Please note the i have not run the engine. I was informed by the previous owner it was laid up in 2007 because of a rear brake problem not engine issues, but have no proof of this.
It will come with the spares I have collected for the car.
Car rolls fine and will be back together for any pick up.
Car is pick up only and good quotes can be had from a service like shiply.com
Thanks
Will consider swap or px for interesting sports car (924, 944, mr2, crx, mx5...)
