First check your kit will accept the DOHC... I get a lot of kit car boys knocking them back cos they need pinto engined cars, but assuming you want the twink you need flywheel starter, clutch and MT75 gearbox from another DOHC. Its possible to use an 18cvh starter/flywheel and a type 9 box too. You also need a prop to suit the box. Sliding centre joint 2 flange for MT75, normal 23 spline ford type for type 9. Might be easier to find a manual donor? just a thought...

To get a standard A40 this low, you'd have to dig a hole to put it in

Thats what i thought.....iv email the manufacturer to see if it will fit and if they do an engine mount kit for the twin cam
I think...as you say...might be easier to find a proper manual 1
shame though.....cos it was just what i needed for the right price and allmost in my home town
anyone know of a 1.6/2lt sierra for sale close to scunthorpe???

Anyway good sierra are getting hard to find (trust me) mechanical or body work. It best to use the MT75 as its a lot strong than the type 9. Your best bet it to go to the breakers and get a whole gearbox, starter, flywheel and clutch. Should be fairly cheap from a breakers. Either that or find another donor! But if the engine is as good as you reckon, it might be worth keeping it.

Sierra - here we go again! He has an illness, it's not his fault.

It best to use the MT75 as its a lot strong than the type 9. If you're going to upgrade though, there are loads more upgrades / gear kits / spares etc available for the Type 9, and the MT75 is more difficult to rebuild at home. Just a thought!
