Does anybody know of a company with experience in making spacers for brake calipers ? I have a pair of Toyota Hilux 4-piston calipers which fit a 1/2" thickness solid disc. I would like to fit a pair of vented discs which are naturally much thicker, so the calipers need spacing or widening to suit. This isn´t for a Toyota so I can´t simply use the calipers from a different model. It´s a brake conversion I am working on for a Triumph TR, trying to keep everything as bolt-on as possible !
Who might be able to help me ?

It's not exactly a hard thing to do yourself. Buy some alloy plate the right thickness cut some bits out and drill some holes yeh?
Any general engineering or fabrication place should be able to do it. Don't expect jobs like that to be cheap tho.

I have a pair of Toyota Hilux 4-piston calipers which fit a 1/2" thickness solid disc. I would like to fit a pair of vented discs which are naturally much thicker, so the calipers need spacing or widening to suit. The earlier Hilux 4 pots were supplied with solid discs, but the later ones( 82 onwards?) work with vented discs and as such have wider openings. The Hilux conversion is quite common with the Datsun crew and the norm is to use earlier calipers for solid discs and later calipers for vented discs with 10mm washer/spacers. Both sets of calipers have same caliper bolt spacing so would work equally. The exact caliprs you need etc and all other information is readily available on the net..

This website gives lots of info for many manufacturers, you could match the disc thicknesses across other cars and look for other suitable caliper donors. www.apecbraking.co.uk/catalogue/rangefriction/range/1800There is a search function on the site which allows you to put in a %deviation on the sizes you're looking for! start with the disc features and you might find a car/calipers to suit Brian
